Peanut allergy.....legitimate question.

The more and more I read and come across this, the more I wonder. I have no doubt this is real and common. But why is it that I feel like I never heard much about this when we were younger? Did they just not know what it was, or was I completely oblivious?

Studies indicate that there has been a significant increase in food allergies over the last decade, including peanut allergies.

I never heard of it growing up either until a very good friend in college had a severe peanut allergy. Now I know too much about it bc my DS has a peanut allergy. In his little pre school alone, he is the fourth kid with a food allergy. I can only imagine how many there will be when he gets to Kindergarten.

The rise is very scary. Not everyone understands just how danagerous food allergies can be.

it always existed, they change the way they process foods and now people are reacting to those changes. Allergies are up in the new babies being born

I know at least 2 adults who randomly developed nut/seed allergies as adults.

I def think it has something to do with all the other ingredients they add to food (soy, for example, is in almost everything!). It's scary!!

I agree that this is very scary. I never heard of it growing up ever. I'm sure it existed but no where near to this extent. DH still tries to tell me I'm nuts when I get concerned over nonorganic foods.
