Ped vent....alittle long...WWYD?

So I call my ped on monday morning because I think my daughter might have Thrush....the nurse on the phone says I do not need to come in that she can just call the pharmacy and get me an antibiotic to give to the baby for it....when I asked if I should be seen since this is my 1st child and I am not really sure what thrush is or looks like she told me that there is no reason for me to bring my 5 month old into the office and subject her to all other germs...so she calls the script in and I start the baby on the antibiotics that night....Tuesday morning she wakes up and still has it but then tuesday night when I got home from work it was gone...Now its weds morning and I call the drs office to let them know it may not have be thrush because it went away so fast, I leave a message for the dr to call me back and then thursday comes with still no call back from the dr....so I call again...they leave me on hold for 12 mins and then tell me they will have another dr call me back today.

I am starting to think that I am annoying the hell out of the girls in the office (I used to call over there alot bc my DD was very sick her first couple of months)

WWYD...would you go to another dr or stick it out and excuse this as just an oversight??

Should my DD still be on the antibiotics?? (was my main question)

PS..I only gave my DD 1 dose of the antibiotic.

for me, PERSONALLY, I would not have began antibiotics until she was seen by the doctor. But, I would expect a call back Chat Icon

1st: your DD should NOT have been on antibiotics eithout a doctor's confirmation!
2nd: a doctor should call you back within 30 minutes (sooner even) no matter what issue you have - big or small.

I would find a new practice or otherwise, if you love this Ped, have a looong talk with Ped about their staff and what YOU expect from his practice!

I would be ape-$h!t by now!

I don't understand why they would put your daughter on antibiotics without being seen. Chat Icon Chat Icon This would bother me A LOT!

I absolutely agree with this.

My ped has called in RXs for pink eye, but he knows I have 2 kids, have seen pink eye a number of times and am hesitant to give any antibiotic if I can avoid it. So if I'm calling to say pink eye, he will call it to a pharmacy.

I would be pretty aggravated at the lack of response.

ITA with all of this. I'd be pizzed and on the search for a new Dr.
I was so happy that our ped. called us back within 10 mins. the other night when I needed to talk to him.
I'd be quite nervous giving my DS a 'script without being seen by a dr.

I work in a peds office, and let me tell you...this would NEVER fly at my office. I can't believe they would start your DD on antibiotics without being seen!!!

I would seriously consider switching practices...
