Pellet Stove question

Where do you keep the actual pellets (when not in use)? Can they be stored outdoors? Our house is fairly small and we don't have a garage (we have a shed, but it's pretty full of other things already).

So if we bought a ton of pellets, how would we store them?

TIA!

Re: Pellet Stove question

They need to be stored in a dry place. Ours are in our storage basement. It takes up a lot of room but we dint have other options. Do you have a covered patio?

Thanks for the response!

We have a small area outside that is covered, but it'd be a pretty bad eyesore since it's pretty close to where our patio furniture is.

I can't put it behind the shed (outside) with a big tarp over it or something? Or maybe I'd just need to buy smaller bags of pellets, though obviously that'd up the price.

We don't have one yet, btw - i'm just trying to plan ahead Chat Icon

We have had a pellet stove for 6 or 7 years. We buy a ton in 50lb bags. We have a shed for some and three rubbermaid type outdoor storage containers that we store them in. We keep them as close to our back door as possible so it's easy to get them when the weather is bad. It's not an eyesore because it's during the winter when we don't hang out in our backyard much. For some reason we have about 20 bags leftover so they will get moved with the container they are in away from our entertaining area and stored till next fall. The other two containers and the shed are empty already so we use them for other things during the summer.
