People need to stop talking on the phone while driving
This girl in a "BIG" red truck this afternoon cut me off she was not paying attention to the road I honked at her and said GET off the Phone!!! I was pulling out of the gas station and she didn't even look i saw her and let her go but i wailed on my horn so she heard me!! People need to stop talking on their cellphones while driving look at the road not your phone..UGHHHHHH!!!

I cannot understand this.
It's not like you cannot talk on the phone (unlike some other States!!!). But it HAS TO BE handsfree.
Gosh... get a bluetooth or a headset.
I don't get it!

It wasnt handfree she was holding the phone, she was paying attention to the phone not the road.. But yes if it was handfree or a blue tooth that is a different story.

I often yell at people to get off the phone. Or if its the highway and i'm a passenger I stare at them and do the phone sign next to my head

While it bugs me, I also wonder sometimes if the person is on the phone for something major or traumatic (and can't pull over for whatever reason, although this is the best idea obviously)
When I would get panic attacks and be on the LIE, I'd call my doctor to talk me through it - but I did use speaker.
I also find people who are typing things into their navigator system/playing with their Sirius Radio buttons are just as bad.
But, I've been guilty of all at one time or another.

They really do!! It's not hard to use a handsfree device or just pull over to talk if they don't have that option (for people like me that doesn't have a handset or really know how to use the speaker function on their phone.  )

DH and I were just commenting the other day about how frequently we see people driving while talking on the phone.
Honestly, I thing there needs to be a major crackdown on this. The police really need to start writing tickets and the fines need to be HUGE. I think that is the only thing that is going to change peoples behavior.

Seriously. Wouldn't a crackdown like that solve the whole taxes/budgets/services problem?
x number of cops getting y umber of people a day at $$$$$z. Lots of $$$--until people stop doing it. Win-win-win.

It's not even a law here in NC yet -- only texting while driving is illegal now. Can't understand why they didn't go all lthe way with it...

i am so glad i never purchased a blue tooth because honestly its distracting more so then having a causal convo in the car with your passenger. I do not talk on my phone and if i get a call i pull over.
THE ONLY BENEFIT is when traveling and your lost and need someone to guide you and that is when I use my speaker phone.

Agreed.
I can always tell if the idiot in front of me is yapping away on the phone based on their crappy driving.
ETA: and it doesn't matter if they are on a hands-free or not. They can have the stupid earbud and their driving still s***ks.

I totally agree with this--but they need to actually crack down. My SIL got a cell phone ticket last year and went to fight it---they lowered it to a $50 fine for failure to use caution when opening a car door. That is NO points and IMO, $50 is not punishment enough to stop someone from continuing to do this.

I agree. I don't see the difference whether you are on the phone manually or using a hands free device honestly. I only drive with one hand most of the time anyhow. I think the distraction is having a conversation when you should be focusing on the road, not the physical action of holding a phone.
Needless to say, I try to avoid ANY conversation, even on speaker while in the car.

I agree. There are so many people swerving around the road and drifting across lanes these days as if they are drunk--it's scary.
