Serious Question for those who still are unvaccinated:
How do you protect yourself and your family from Covid?
Since seeing the study posted about cloth and surgical masks not being very effective: 1. What type mask do you wear?
2.Under what circumstance? (Ex- any time in public, or only as required)
Or do you "hope for the best" based on things you've read?
I seriously just want to know your answers, not to debate it.
The same way we have protected ourselves from every other virus during our lifetime. Try to be as healthy as possible with lots of sunshine, fresh air, vitamins, exercise, eating right, good hygeine, and staying away from sick people. We wear masks only when absolutely required and never outside. You cannot fully protect yourself against getting a virus. We may get it. We may even have already had it. You may see this as stupidly “hoping for the best” but we have been fine, which is more than I can say for most people we know who took every possible precaution and got covid anyway.
Thanks for your honest reply.

Similar to this- I do everything in my power to keep my immune system in tip top shape. And to be honest, it must be working to some degree because I haven't even had a head cold in probably 6 or more years. Not one. It always amazes me how sick everyone is constantly- and this was pre Covid. The City MD's packed every single time I pass them. People at work sick every other week with this or that. Kids in school out constantly, constantly, with every bug that comes by. Perhaps immune systems are luck of the genetic draw, like the person who can eat whatever they want and never gain a pound? Perhaps it was all the cheap Target brand formula I fed my DD in lieu of breast feeding. Perhaps it my regime- because there was a time, about 7 years ago or so that I was sick all the time- strep throat, flu, pink eye every other week, viruses that make covid look tame but weren't flu because the flu swap was negative, 103 fevers, I was sick a lot. But now, nothing.... I did find a supplement right around then when I was fed up with being sick constantly and did some research. Maybe that made the difference... who knows.?

We rarely wear masks. Only where required like doctors offices. But we just throw on disposables if required.
We rely on the same things we did during other outbreaks, like flu. We wash our hands. Stay away from sick people. Naturally boost our immune system. Seems to be working the last year and a half.
My kids school had a major flu outbreak in 2019. More than half of one of their classes was taken out, including the teacher. My child was taught to wash hands and took vitamins. Never got the flu. Doing the same thing now for Covid.

Pfizer Granted full FDA approval
Same thing I have always done to help prevent illness even before COVID. We wash our hands, stay away from sick people, limit crowd exposure, take our vitamins, get sunshine and generally just go on with life.

I just recently decided to get vaccinated but I’ll answer as if I haven’t.
I’ll be honest I am hoping for the best. I figured the fact that I had Covid in January will give me the protection that I need. (Now that I decided to get vaccinated I’m going with the assumption that the vaccine will give me a booster for more antibodies l)
But I did so with acceptance that if I got covid again and I got it badly that was on me for not listening and getting vaccinated. I also am not in denial enough to know that I am not immune to dying. No one can gurantee if they get they won’t die from it. Personally I don’t think most people think this way but I could be wrong.

How are you protecting yourself in light of the recent science and research? Have you tested to see if you are still or were ever immune? Are you getting your third booster?? Or are you just hanging your hopes on a vaccine that has 60 percent hospitalisation rate in Israel? So many breakthrough cases the CDC stopped counting, research suggesting the vaccine doesn’t protect you from long term COVID? Fully vaccinated carry the same viral load and spread covid just as easily as uncaccinated. How are you protecting your family? What are you doing? Hoping for the best? Are you 3 months out from your vaccine? You likely don’t have much protection against delta anymore! Not trying to debate it, it’s a serious question I wonder as the vaccinated people I know walk around like there is no covid and we wonder why cases are surging and so many fully vaccinated are sick! Oh and newslash , the research hasn’t just shown masks aren’t that effective. It has shown the vaccines aren’t that effective either!
Yeah no answer- but I'll bite. I am vaccinated. I wear a mask. I limit unnecessary exposure, but I am not isolated. I hope for the best. And no I do not walk around like there is no covid. I feel like I am doing everything I did in the spring. I am fearful of Covid, for all the reasons you listed. I was "one of those" who walked around with masks on when I was 2 weeks out of last vaccination. So my question was one of a serious nature, because I am in awe of people who are not vaccinated and seriously wonder how you protect yourself, if you do.
My point was just that vaccinated people should be protecting themselves as well, especially if you were vacccinated months ago. The distinction isn't warranted at this point unless you have recent bloodwork showing high immunity and it's what is leading to surges across the world. The post should have been what is everyone doing to protect themselves against COVID.
I know many unvaccinated people who are just as worried about COVID as they are about the vaccine. They take it VERY seriously. - Nothing indoor except your own home. Groceries and everything online and delivered. If a store is necessary masks and short duration under 15 minutes. -All activities, sports, playdates family gatherings etc. outdoors. -Deliberately avoid people who have recently traveled to high risk areas or are living carelessly (vaccinated or not). -No carpools. -NO indoor dining, outdoor dining only with your own supplies, highly distanced etc. -No public restrooms. -No hotels -Eat very healthy, Vitamin C, D, Zinc, Garlic etc. daily. -Diligently clean hands, surfaces etc. -Wear only Level 3, K95 or N95 masks
I mean honestly, isn't this common sense? If you are worried about getting sick I think it's pretty darn clear how to avoid it. Unfortunately, once you inject the vaccine you can't avoid the damage it does to you. It's Russian Roulette if you will be fine or not. You can make choices to protect yourself and your family from COVID. You should be able to protect yourself and your family from vaccine injury too no? It's not helping anyone to mandate when vaccinated spread just as easily as the unvaxxed. What were you looking for with this post other than to be a jerk? It's comical at this point. This isn't the polio vaccine. Read the news.

Maybe it's common sense to you, but there are plenty on here who are unvaccinated and have said that they are living their lives as if everything is back to normal, how they lived pre-COVID. So, it is a very valid question. Why so much attitude?

Re: Pfizer Granted full FDA approval
FDA approved is not going to matter to anyone who is an anti vaxer (I am referring to people who are against all vaccines)
It may mean something to those on the fence about the covid ones.
Then you have those who believe in ridiculous conspiracy theories like they are using the vaccine to track us
No one on the internet is going to change anyone’s mind and it should be that way. I know someone who was against the covid vaccine who have changed their mind based on actual real research talking to their doctors and then making an informed decision. Which is how it should be done.
Decision should not be made based on what someone post on social media sites such as memes partial information or the best I know someone who knows someone that this happen too.

I had Covid and it seems antibodies are working a lot better for me as I have not had a Covid a second time. Ex. My coworker who got the vaccine in June and now has Covid.
Thank you for the reply. Like I said, I didn't want to debate it, I just want to know
Honestly, I was thinking of getting the vaccine sometime around now but then I got Covid in March. I didn’t want to get 3 shots with in a year and had a strong suspicion there was going to be a booster. I felt like the distribution was a little early since spring and summer were coming. Now it’s a decision if I get the J&J in the fall or wait till it’s improved.
My son will 100% not get it and him getting taken out of school is not an option. So I will deal with that if the time comes.

People living their lives as if everything is back to normal - vaccinated or not - is a choice, it doesn't mean they don't know how to protect themselves from getting sick so what you are saying makes no sense. We all have different risk thresholds and anxiety levels etc. Our bodies, our choice. If you wanted to protect yourself from COVID, it is common sense how to. That is why maybe you are sensing attitude because there was NO logical point to that post other than the usual intention to shame or bully or scare unvaccinated which is so bizarre and one sided and at this point just hurting all of us! As a society we need to demand a better vaccine, a better treatment or at least a better plan! Going along with mandating vaccines as our master plan when it's not helping and the situation is only getting worse is stupidity and it's so frustrating! And stop with the mocking of "anti-vaxxers" you CANNOT say that people are not getting injured by this vaccine, it's SCIENCE now. Heart and neurological problems have been found at a minimum! Just like you can choose to protect yourself or not you should have a choice with the vaccine, AND the argument of protecting others now no longer exists based on the SCIENCE. So why? What is going on here?

and the questions was asked of those who are unvaccinated. Those who, when going into a store or pretty much anywhere, should still be wearing masks (signs in most places indicate that the unvaccinated are still supposed to wear masks). And even if the vaccine efficacy decreases over time, those who are vaccinated still have a much lower risk of serious illness or death - so asking the question of the unvaccinated was a legitimate and reasonable question.

Our bodies, our choice.
This right here is completely false. I know you think the vaccine offers no protection, but it does. That is a fact. YOUR choice to not get vaccinated effects more than just your self. Saying "stay home" to those worried about getting sick is cruel and beyond impossible for many. So, no, it's not just a personal choice.

Really how is that? If a vaccinated person can spread COVID just as easily, viral load is the same as the CDC and many studies have now shown over the past month than how are they protecting others with the vaccine exactly?
It's actually WORSE because many are ignorant and oblivious to these new findings and think they are immune spreading their viral load all over the place.
We are mandating NYC teachers to take the vaccine. Well, what about all the teachers that got the vaccine in January and by recent findings likely are no longer immune? Do they need the booster to work? Proof of immunity? Does anyone not see how this makes ZERO sense toward the stated goal?????

Serious Question for those who still are unvaccinated:
How do you protect yourself and your family from Covid?
Since seeing the study posted about cloth and surgical masks not being very effective: 1. What type mask do you wear?
2.Under what circumstance? (Ex- any time in public, or only as required)
Or do you "hope for the best" based on things you've read?
I seriously just want to know your answers, not to debate it.
And there are many vaccinated on here as well who are living life like pre-Covid. It’s not just unvaccinated.
and the questions was asked of those who are unvaccinated.
I never said the question was unreasonable and I answered her directly without being an ass or condescending because I thought it was a reasonable question.
I am pointing out that since vaccinated are getting Covid and can transmit, they are still being just as supposedly “reckless”. The unvaccinated target is getting ridiculous especially when it’s majority had Covid and are better protected than these vaccinated folks.

Thank you
New data was released by the CDC last week showing that vaccinated people infected with the delta variant carry viral loads similar to those of people who are unvaccinated.
While this sounds discouraging, it’s important to keep three things in mind:
Vaccines remain highly effective at preventing severe disease. Breakthrough infections among vaccinated individuals remain uncommon. The majority of new COVID-19 infections in the US are among unvaccinated people.

Thanks for your answer.

I saw this last week and stopped reading after a few stories because it is too upsetting since I know eventually they will force this on my child.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I asked because, I tend to be in a "Covid-fearful" bubble, meaning most people I socialize/ communicate with have similar opinions and safety protocols like me. I do know people and family who are not vaccinated, but we do not discuss this, because, let's face it, it's a hot topic. I know we all have our reasons and can support our own decisions with studies and articles. I guess what I was interested in was everyone's comfort levels about what they need to do to mitigate the risk. Because let's face it, I don't think anyone is going out there, looking to get Covid.
Thanks again!

We live our life. I wear masks when required and don't where not required. I have worked closely with families and children since September with no issues. I've been in schools with children that are unmasked. I use common sense and good hygiene. I take vitamins and my zinc. and I am not afraid if I was then i wouldn't be diving a car each day or ride a horse or go to the beach. Life is dangerous in general.
As for the FDA approval how was it approved it did not go through appropriate channels so how does that make me feel safe???

Just wondering if this was your intention than why didn’t you ask what is everyone doing to protect themselves from covid? Why did you only ask/care what unvaccinated people were doing? If you are vaccinated and covid fearful wouldn’t it be more relevant what other vaccinated people were doing to protect themselves? What you wrote here doesn’t really jive with your original question.

Re: Pfizer Granted full FDA approval
I'm going to be honest, FDA approval doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot to me.
Plenty of drugs that were pulled off the market for being harmful and that you see all the law firm commercials for now saying, "Did this drug cause you harm or death?" were FDA approved. Until they weren't.

Not to mention it receives a great percentage of its drug regulatory budget from the pharmaceutical companies whose products it regulates.
