I know that it is a regional thing and I will probably get yelled at, but I want to SCREAM when people say "on line" (as in they are standing on line). That is not even remotely grammatically correct. You are standing IN a line, not on a line. Only in NY do people use this phrase incorrectly.
This was hard for me to get used to. I'm from upstate NY and we say that we are standing IN line. On line is being on the internet.
Another LI thing is: calling out. "I called out to work" Where I always said "I called in to work"
Kitty corner vs. katty corner also

I also hate when people add and "S" to stores.
I'm going to run to: Costco's, Target's, King Kullens, Etc.....

These are killing me!
I have NEVER seen "amazeballs" before this thread and I hope I NEVER do!
I still have no idea what "kk" stands for.
This may be regional but I hate when people say they "took" a hot tub - as if it's the same as "taking" a shower.

I hate "kk" instead of okay. It annoys me immensely. As well as leaving off letters or spelling things wrong on purpose: wat, nd, aight, pleaz
My SILs and BILs are in mid to late teens, and extremely ghetto. and Reading their FBs is like watching a puppy die.
Examples of some of their hoodrat statuses:
Just fronted on me like tf I'm tight now. [tf = the f$!k]
Lms for a cuff or duff [like my status for a like or diss]
They use the acronyms and abbreviations that annoy me: Hmu - hit me up Wya - where you at Wyd - what you doing Lml - laughing mad loud
I have a cousin like this. I blocked her a few months ago. I used to correct all her status updates I'm surprised she didn't block me first

Kind of different from the above - but one of my biggest pet peeves is when people say, "Could care less." It is "Could NOT care less."
I get that this phrase has become the norm and everyone gets what the person means, but I guess I am just a very literal person. When someone says, "I could care less" I usually say, "So you do care some?"
THIS times infinity! ! ! I seriously have to keep myself from saying something sometimes!

Re: Phrases/Sayings/Abbreviations Pet Peeves
I don't understand amazeballs or adorbs.
Many of these don't bother me and I tend to use them. I LOL all the time, and if another poster eloquently expressed my thoughts I see no reason to elaborate beyond a quote and a "this."
I have all sorts of grammar peeves, the biggest (this week) is when people add an apostrophe with an s to everything. It is NOT necessary.
1 cat 2 cats, not 2 cat's
That drives me totes cray cray.
And now that I've done it, ^that annoys me too.

Some of my brain cells died reading this.
I couldn't even understand this- is this in greek???
Seriously, had it not been for the translations I wouldn't have had a SINGLE clue as to what they were saying!
Man I'm getting old...
When people use nouns as verbs like the word "summer". For example, "Biff told Buffy he's taking her and the kids to summer in Nantucket this year!"
Sounds incredibly pretentious if you ask me.
