I'm crashing with a quick question. I had an unexplained miscarriage (the results came back that the chromosomes were normal) and I was sent to a perinatal doctor by my OB. The perinatal doctor is sending me for blood tests. One is an antibody test (he said it has to do with blood clotting) and the other is a progesterone test. I am having the testing done this month before we TTC again next month.
I know if I test positive for any of the anitbody issues I will be prescribed either lovenox/heparin/aspirin. Here is my question: why are you taking these medications? Were you tested before you were pregnant for an antibody issue? Or did you doctor discover an issue with your pregnancy?
I'm just wondering how common it is to test positive for an antibody/clotting issue? Is it a common thing?
For me, I had two chemical pregnancies so I wanted to get checked out by an RE and have my DH checked as well. DH came back fine and my RE did several blood tests to determine that I had Thrombophilia (which is a blood clotting disorder). My RE did several other tests as well and had put a protocol together for me to start. The month inbetween testing and starting the protocol I got PG and he immediately put me on Lovenox and Progesterone.
I stopped the progesterone when I was 10 weeks but have continued the Lovenox and will do so until I am 38 weeks.

Thanks for answering. From what I have been researching these disorders seem to be more common than I thought. I wish you the best of luck in your pregnancy.

The lovenox is designed to only be in your system for 24 hours. I understand why we "go off" the lovenox before delivery. I just don't understand the induction part.
If you need to get off the Lovenox two days before you deliver how will you know when this delivery will be without being induced or scheduling a C-section... and Heparin needs to be injected twice a day and I've read it tends to be more painful. Also they don't suggest to go past 40 weeks because the placenta is starting to deteriorate and doesn't do its job properly anymore which I guess for patients with blood clotting issues is not a good thing. For me personally the induction is also meant to prevent having a 9-10lb baby...
I'm going to be starting Lovenox next week. I heard about most people switching to Heparin. I really dont want to be induced. I also don't want an epidural, so that doesnt really have an effect on me.
I really hope my dr doesn't say he wants to induce. I don't see the need. Also, who cares if the baby is 9-10 lbs? My mom delivered naturally to me and my sister and we were both over 9 lbs.
I definitely need to speak to my dr about this on Monday.
