Placenta Previa question
At my 20 week u/s, my placenta was low. I went back at 29 weeks and it is now considered partial previa. It is partially covering my cervix as well as placed right where my incision from my previous section is. I am still waiting to speak with my doc, but the doctor at the u/s said that I will need to have a csection, in an operating room, at 36 weeks as long as an amnio says the lungs are formed.
Has this happened to anyone? They didnt say I had to go on bedrest, but did say that i have to take it easy....

Re: Placenta Previa question
I had previa up until about 25 weeks. Then it became low lying, and then it moved completely out of the way by about 29 weeks. From 20-25 weeks, I was on pelvic rest. If it hadn't moved, they were going to do a c-section at about 36-37 weeks, depending on baby's lungs.

Re: Placenta Previa question
Doctor said my Placenta was low as well at my 20 week apointment. I have to go back for another sono at 28 weeks. If your placenta is still low at that point, do they always do a c-section that early?

If your placenta is still low at that point, do they always do a c-section that early? They try. I had to begin having amnios once a week at 36 weeks. Luckily I only needed 2, as I went into labor at the Dr!

Re: Placenta Previa question
At 17 weeks I ended up in the ER w/ bleeding and was diagnosed with complete previa....My OB put me on "modified" bedrest (basically taking it easy, not lifting etc...) and complete pelvic rest....At my 20 week sono, it had moved slightly...I just had my 28 week sono and my complete previa is now only marginal ...My doctor had told me at 17 weeks that if it didnt move by 36 weeks that they would do a c-section then ( I am having a c-section anyway as a repeat) and start me on steroids to strengthen the babies lungs at my 28 week visit...Because I had 2 bleeding incidents early on, the OB had said if I had any bleeding episodes after 24 weeks the baby would be taken immediate and luckily I did not...We are now still shooting for my 39 week c-section......My OB is very confident now that by my 32 week sono, the previa will have completely move so I'm sure having only partial previa, the chanaces of yours moving is probably good too
Just be careful of lifting, that was probably my biggest problem ( I was lifting my 3yo DS and that most likely contributed to my bleeds) and don't do any crazy walking etc- As my OB explained to me, its like having a wound, if you keep moving it or rubbing it against something, it will bleed...
