Re: Please recommend your (likely top load) washer!
I was a a huge fan of the front loaders, until I got mine three years ago.
They are terrible IMO. Well the dryer is fine, but washer, and the constant smell. I do the cleaning of the drain, and the washer cleaner more than once a month and they still smell.
My sister has a different brand and she has the same issue.
I would definitely go with a larger top loader without the agitator if i had to do it all again.
Good luck. Not an easy decision.

My IL's just got this Samsung top loader but it has no agitator sticking up in the middle so it's all open and HUGE. They got it during the 4th of july sale at sears for under $700.

I have a Fisher & Paykel top-load washing machine with no aggitator and I love it. It saves water because it only fills according to the amount of clothes in the drum. I also have the matching top-load dryer and while I am very happy with it the one issue is that I can't fold laundry on top of the machine as I'm taking the clothes out, which I never thought of until I started using it.

we got the LG wave series (5101) back in October and I love it! My parents got the maytag bravos set and my mom loves them. We were between the 2, were able to the the LG sooner and at a slightly better price at the time so that's why we chose that one.

I have the Whirlpool Cabrio - same water/energy efficiency as front loading machines but it's a top loader without the agitator in the middle so it has nearly twice the capacity as the front loaders in the same price range. Had it for three years now and no complaints! And I love that we can easily do comforters at home and I do fewer loads of laundry because I can fit so much.

I have this too.. its a 5.0 cu ft one..its great..I can wash like 8 pairs of mens jeans in it (Im sure more) and also wash my king size sheets/comforters. There is a sensor for when load is uneven and stops automatic so drum does not get damaged..its soooo quiet too
