we got a great deal on a civic from Nardy in Smithtown. They were very negotiable (we paid under invoice) and easy to deal with.

ITA. If you can make the trip to Smithtown it is worth it.

One time, at Smithtown Honda, we rec'd a response from a saleswoman "Well, this is HONDA" when my father tried to negotiate the price of the vehicle. I was like, are you kidding? and we left.

Then, another time, at Smithtown - my sister rec'd great help and the salesman we worked with then was very friendly and informative. She ended up buying another car only for price/package purposes but liked it there that time.

I guess it all depends on who you get - every dealership is going to have jerk salespeople -- it is just the luck of the draw, I suppose. I would have no problem asking for another salesperson if the one you are working with is not being cooperative. Remember, they are to EARN your business - not the other way around.

My husband bought our CR-V from Huntington Honda but we rec'd great service because my FIL and DH know the owners of HH -- they detail their cars (they have a car wash) so we were treated really well and it was a great experience --- But, they do have some really nice salespeople there, in general.

Honda City in Levittown.

We didn't shop around though. I needed a new car ASAP and we got an ok deal on the CRV.
