Please suggest a gift for the wine lover who has it all
FH's best friend is a wine lover who is very wealthy and snobby so I don't really know how to buy him a wine. We're looking for a gift for him in the $100 area. Any suggestions?
ETA: I mean snobby in terms of if we buy him the "wrong" wine, he probably won't drink it

How about a set of wine glasses? Or is he snobby about those too?

He probably is. LOL. I don't know what would fit into his decor since he has never invited us to his new place...

Honestly, I would not get him anything other than the cork from the wine bottle I stole from his cellar. Let your DH worry about it

We're stumped. We might just ask him roommate if there's a specific wine he likes or would like to try.
I was looking at aerators, instant chillers, etc, but I assume he probably has all of that, unless there's maybe a new gadget out he wouldn't necessarily buy for himself but would like to try.
Believe me I would love to leave it up to FH because in case you couldn't tell, this guy annoys me.

It's so difficult to buy when people are just that snobby about stuff.
Is he into dessert wines like Sauternes or Ice Wine ? A nice Champagne ?

Do you think this would be good? Even if he has one, you could always use 2 if you have 2 open bottles:

What about doing your homework and buying him one really good quality bottle of $100 wine. Something that might really thrill him.

I don't know. I think I should just see if FH can get in touch with his roommate. She would know more. I remember him recommending Proseccos and Vermentinos for us at restaurants, so I could get a bottle of each with a good rating, maybe? In a leather wine case?

I'm just afraid it will be one he doesn't like is the thing. Or maybe I could try a newer $100 wine he isn't likely to have tried yet so at least it would be a new experience.

Re: Please suggest a gift for the wine lover who has it all
For Christmas, I got my DH a gift certificate to take a wine class in NYC. You get to learn all about different wines, taste a bunch of them and eat cheese. I went with him and it was a lot of fun... probably helped that I think we tasted 10 wines in 2 hours!

What about a wine bottle carrying case. My old boss used to use one since he was snobby too and always brought his own wine everywhere

Re: Please suggest a gift for the wine lover who has it all
I don't know where you would find them around here but, out in the vineyards (at baiting hollow farm vineyard) they had these beautiful painted wine glasses. I wonder if they have an online shop. But, i am sure you could find something similar in a gift store.

Re: Please suggest a gift for the wine lover who has it all
A meritage. It's a blend of wines. It's an excellent thing to get a wine lover. Get a unique blend, he will be surprised. Not a usual wine ppl get. You can ask the owner of store to give u an idea on what's good. Hopefully they have a good selection.
Or a subscription to wine spectator!
