Poll- Holiday light preference... white or colored?

On the z100 morning show this morning they were debating on what is better White or colored lights on a Christmas tree, saying that colored lights are tacky. I am curious on what the ppl on LIF think. I must say, I have to agree w/them... I like the white lights. I just don't think that the blue, orange and pink lights mixed in w/the colored are very Christmas like. JMO and keep in mind this is all in good fun, not to offend anyone.

ETA: I would like to add that I do like seeing some color outside so next year I think I will buy new lights that are just white, green & red. That way it is a little more colorful than just white but still keeping with the Christmas colors. I should also amend my statement that I agree w/them b/c I meant it in the sense that I agree w/the white lights, not that colored are tacky.

I personally like white, but my parents had a bunch of colored lights already so we just went with it and teh whole house has colored lights!

I'm usually a white light only girl, except I love those colored C-7 (9?) type bulbs from when I was a kid.

We ususally do colored lights on our tree and white lights outside but I wouldn't mind mixing it up once in a while. It's not that serious . I've seen amazing houses decorated with both.

I like both, I love the classic look with greenery, red bows and white lights, but I also love the cheerful, playfulness of colored lights.

For our own house I prefer colored, my DH (who would LOVES Christmas lights, as in he wants to buy and program a light board for our house)and my DS both love the colored and I also find it a bit more festive and cheerful

For a while I preferred white but now I like colored lights - they are cheerier. I don't know why colored lights could be considered tacky - it's just a preference. (I can't stand that word!!)

I love colored. I have both colored for the tree and outside. In fact, just last night I drove down a block where ALL the houses had white lights and I thought, "How boring!" Not that you should coordinate with your neighbors, but I prefer a variety!

I grew up with colored and loved them as a kid.

As an adult, I like white. I don't like colors at all.

I won't call it tacky because it's a matter of taste. I do feel colored are more "casual" than white though. I think it's about the look you are looking for.

IMO (bc we always have to state this first on here right?!?) colored lights are festive and white lights remind me of rich, classy, prissiness... I actually wanted to do all white lights on our tree this yr bc I'd like the classy factor before having children and having their homemade ornaments all over the tree... But DH wanted colored for the tree... white for the house so thats what we're doing... I think it'll be nice that the tree will be colorful in our window but the rest of the house looks "classy"

And I did hear them talking about it on z100 and actually was pretty ****** that people called colored lights tacky give me a beak

I like white lights! I bought a tree with pre-lit white lights but DH made me get colored too...so we have both on our tree.

Colored all the way!! I think my tree looks beautiful and bright. I am not a fan of white. Yes it does look elegant and dont have a problem with it. But its not for me!

COLORED!!! I love colored lights.

We have a pre-lit tree with all white lights and I force my DH to put colored on the tree also each year.

I really liked white lights only and for a long time hated the colored lights. But now, I'm not sure. We have mostly white outside and white on the tree (I think I still prefer white for the tree b/c there is so much color with the ornamants themselves) but I am coming around to the different colors outside.

Either way though, I just like christmas lights. They make the neighborhood look so pretty.

We have red lights and white lights on our tree, white outside. I also like green lights.

I like specific colors for specific things. I think colors look nice inside on trees when you have young children. They are more fun and look better with the fun ornaments we have for the girls (snowmen, santa, rocking horses, etc). However, I prefer white lights on a more adult type of tree b/c I think it looks more elegant. So when the girls get older I will switch to white lights. This year our lights burned out and DH bought white ones so I'm stuck with them this year but next year he says he will get colored again for the next couple of years.

I prefer white for the outside of the house.

I don't think either are tacky just personal preference.
