Poop leaking out of diaper ... help! *UPDATE* (still need help)
For a while now, DD has been leaking poop out of her diaper -- out the side/bottom, where it stains the leg opening of her onesies. The other day, it came POOLING out onto DH while she was on his lap (hardly any got on her nor inside the diaper)!
She is wearing Swaddlers size 1, which I believe is 8-14 lbs and she weighed in at 11 lbs 7 oz last week. Do I need to go up a size? If not (and it *seems* the diapers fit okay, but I don't really know how to tell), what can I do to stop this from happening??

UPDATE 9/10:
Well, the poop disasters are only getting worse. I have tried going up a size (Swaddlers), Huggies, and Pampers Baby Dry. NOTHING is working. Just today DD pooped all over me, herself, and the boppy. I do not know what to do!! I'm starting to think it's NOT the diapers, but that my DD just has some poop issue?? I don't know  ... any other advice??

swaddlers run small and have zero give, I would try the baby dry, they have more flexibility...we did that and we stayed in them until we went to cruisers.

We used to use the swaddlers as well and had problems with leakage in the same area and up the back  So I switched to Huggies Gentle Care and they don't ever leak.

We had the same problem. I got the eckerd's diapers & very rarely have an issue now.

My sis swears by huggies for girls....maybe try switching diapers or put the diaper on tighter??? which may iritate her though.

I switched to the baby dry. Didnt like the swaddlers.
I use Luvs now as I ran out of the pampers I had , and have bags of Luvs and I like them even more!
Eta- And we had poop leakage issues in the past.

i was never a huggies fan. i really loved the swaddlers. there's a swaddlers size 1-2 which is in between a size 1 and a 2, but i think they only sell it in big cases. i think BRU might have them and i used to buy mine at sam's club. we used them for a long time when my ds would leak from the size 1, but the 2s were still a little big.

we use baby dry as well, swaddlers gave him diaper rash... we get a leak here and there but rarely...

Not so good. First poop was okay, but since then, her next 2 poops leaked. So I just put a Huggies size 1 on her (I found a package in the house!) and we'll see how that goes. I don't see how it's going to be any better since the elastic seems exactly the same (if not smaller) - but who knows, we'll see.
It's so annoying that all her clothes are getting poop stains now! (well, I am able to get them out for the most part - but still annoying)

Ditto all around. I started using Luvs in size 1's and then went back to baby drys b/c I had them in the house and I like both of them, but like Luvs a little more.

What about getting a set of "gasp!" Cloth diapers, they work really well and I don't know anyone who has had any leakage from theirs.

Funny, my friend also suggested the same thing. I'm just confused, because isn't a cloth diaper the same as a burp cloth? And if so, when DD spits up on one (during tummy time, for instance) it goes right through. Is there something that goes over it? Or am I way off thinking my burp cloths are the same thing?

I'm not much help...but wanted to say I've been having the SAME problem - with pee too with those diapers. I tried the huggies but they seem kind of big on him....maybe in a few days...Let me know if you fix the problem

We had that problem a handful of times but I still love the swaddlers. You might already do this but I found that pulling down on the elastic by the legs once the diaper is on helped a lot plus we went up a size..I stopped looking at the weight they had listed since they do seem to run small.

Are u breastfeeding? I am and I am having the same problems as you. I have found that it really has nothing to do with the size of the diapers its more the consistency of the poop. For us they are very runny and that is what is causing the leakage.

Yes!! That's what I'm thinking ... it's not the diapers but the poop itself!

They do have plastic covers to go over the cloth diapers.
I was also a Luvs lover. I never had any leakage issues with them. Also, are you putting on A+D or something? Could you be putting too much on and it is getting too much on the diaper. Then it can't absorb the pee or poop because the A+D is on the inside of the diaper.

I am meaning something like Bambino Mio or Cottontails...they are cloths and you put a paper liner on them to catch the solids in the poo, then over that goes a terry cover, and you can put a cotton/pants type cover on those. They are really absorbant and good for the environment.

Have you tried Luvs? And did you just go up a size in the Swaddlers or in the BabyDry and Huggies?
My SIL was talking about cloth diapers taht go inside of something that kinda looks like rubber underwear (sorry ) maybe something like that? But would you just throw out the cloth or wash it? Then you'd be doing a lot of laundry too...
