Poor Egg quality?
Hi,
I’m driving myself nuts thinking of all the possibilities that may have contributed to my MMC. Back in August I was diagnosed with DOR (AMH .4). After our ER all eggs fertilized and 6 out of 8 made it to a 5dbt. All embies were graded AAA or BAA (or some combo of A and B). That being said, can my MMC be due to poor egg quality b/c of my low AMH? I’m sitting here thinking the worst! I guess I just need some reassurance that if it was poor egg quality my embryos wouldn’t be A/B quality. It’s something I’ll mention to the doc, but in the meantime what do you girls think?
TIA!

Re: Poor Egg quality?
I'd tend to agree that if it was poor egg quality, the embies would not have been such high quality. I think they'd degrade much faster.

Re: Poor Egg quality?
From the studies I have read, and my doctor agrees, the egg quality in a younger woman with DOR, is not much different then a woman who has a normal rage AMH. BUT there are doctors who feel that a low AMH is a correlation to poor egg quality. My AMH is .08, I cringe even typing that number out.
That being said, if you feel it is an egg quality issue, I would work on making the eggs as strong as you can. There are things you can take to help the egg become stronger. I am taking a variety of supplements on top of wheat grass shots daily.
AMH is such a tricky thing. This is a new test compared to the other tests like FSH, and doctors don't necessarily agree on the meaning.
Also, keep this in mind. There has never been a study on the general population of women with AMH. So we really don't know the rates of women who conceive with a low AMH naturally. The only women who are tested are going through IF treatments. So after this long winded response, I think it can be egg quality issues, talk to your doctor, and start doing things now to build up your eggs for the next cycle.

Re: Poor Egg quality?
I had low AMH and poor egg quality was confirmed with our 2 IVF attempts. But I also have severe PCOS and was 36 at that time. Our embryos were of very ppor quality. Did a 3 day transfer with 4, BFN and had 1 embryo on atempt #2 and it arrested on Day 4. Your embryos' quality seems to be good, at least by the time of your transfer. As PP said, there are supplements to improve egg quality and they certainly won't hurt. As I was told, it really just becomes a "numbers" came and the more attempts you make the better your chances of achieving a healthy pregnancy. Best of luck!
