Im finding it very hard... getting depressed about it... Chat Icon I'm not BF'ing so I know that has an impact...

For those of you who are loosing weight - whats working for you?
What are you doing?

I know exercise is important - how do you fit it in? what are you doing?

Re: Postpartum Weigh Loss

Diet, surprisingly enough, is way more important than exercise for weight loss. Some people use Weight Watchers, some use My Fitness Pal. The important thing is that if you want to lose weight you need to actually keep track of what you are eating. Good luck!

Postpartum Weigh Loss

I gained 60lbs with my DS. The first 30 I lost by the time I got home from the hospital. The last 30 took me about 4 months doing Weight Watchers. I haven't been exercising (I want to but no time). I'm under my pregnancy weight now and its all DIET! Def. try WW.

I'm having such a hard time. I'm looking for a gym with daycare. I also have been taking DD on walks with my in her stroller. I only hear good things about weight watchers and they have apps for the phone now too.

Postpartum Weight Loss

Like many moms I have tried to get the gym in during the AM and I just doesnt work. DH has to get my MIL to come to our house to watch DS. He has to leave by 600am. we both are up at 5am -530am to get ready for work and stuff. When he drops off MIL by 630ish I have to leave b/c my car ride to work is an hour and 20mins approx.
Im going to try and work out during "lunch" at work... I just dont know what what else to do. Im so exhausted at night when I get home...anyway enough of my pity party...
Gonna look at weight watchers as well

Losing weight is 90% diet so I wouldn't worry so much about the exercise. Look at what you eat.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss

WW helped me lose the 30 lbs I gained during my last pg. now I'm working on losing the weight I put on going through fertility treatments to get pg. ONly exercise I did was walk with the stroller through my neighborhood probably about 30 mins 3x a week.

The only thing that worked for me was my fitness pal. It's the same as ww but free. I've done both. I never went to ww meetings just tracked what I ate online. Then I discovered my fitness pal. I used that and really followed it.

If I was out of calories for the day, I was done. I lost about 25 lbs and then bam got pregnant again. After this baby, I plan on using it again. I never really exercised bc my twins were born in nov and I wasn't joining a gym or about to go for a run in dec, plus I had no time since they never slept.

I'm hoping since the weather is nice now to at least get out for a run here or there, but I'm not gonna beat myself up if I don't. GL! Don't be so hard on yourself,. It's really really hard, believe me I know.

Postpartum Weight Loss

I gained 46lbs and the first 35 came off within the first two months. I'm not BFing so I attribute it to portion size. I just wasn't hungry so I ate small meals. I'm now doing WW to get back to my pre pregnancy weight since I'm the worst committing to any king of exercise regiment.

Postpartum Weight Loss

I take a 630am train into the city, so working out before work is just not possible for me. So, I run on my lunch hour. I only do it twice a week and then run once on the weekends for a total of 3 days a week. It kind of sucks because I feel like my lunch hour is the only chance I have to relax, but Im miserable when I don't work out so it's worth it. I also eat a healthy diet. I've used both the myfitnesspal and lose it apps and while I prefer the lose it app, they both are extremely helpful ways to monitor your food.

Postpartum Weight Loss

The first 25 came off right after but the last 12 took hard work, I did WW for a a couple months and exercise. I wasn't at my PP weight until my DS was like 9m, those last few pounds were tough, it will happen, good luck!

I went on Jenny Craig. It was great! The food was good and it was fool proof because everything was laid out for me and easy with a newborn. I highly recommend it! I lost almost 40 lbs. It was 3 months post partum and I was feeling the same way.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss

I gained 38 pounds with my first son. I lost those last stubborn 10 pounds by watching what ate. No eating after 7 pm. I also swear by green tea, it speeds up metabolism!

I didn't have time/energy to exercise, and I didn't nurse. It was all watching what I ate.

Postpartum Weight Loss

I gained a LOT of weight when I was pregnant with DS. I definitely recommend Weight Watchers. DS is a year old and I now weigh less than I did when I got pregnant. I did BF so that helped but Weight Watchers really did the trick for me. I don't have time to work out at all unfortunately. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water. You will get there, don't beat yourself up. It's very hard to lose weight especially when you are caring for a baby.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss

I'm 5-months postpartum and actually 20 pounds less than I was before I got pregnant.

BFing definitely helped, but I also don't eat nearly as much or as bad as I used to. DH and I used to go out to eat ALL THE TIME. Not to mention all the margaritas and other yummy drinks we used to go out for.... There's just no time for any of that now. Most of my meals are consumed standing over the counter with a baby on my hip.

Gone also are my after-work couch potato ways. We're always dancing around the living room or running up and down the atairs for this or that. I also take DD for a lot of long walks.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss

Like most FTWM I did not want to leave my kids to go to the gym after coming home from work so I go during my lunch hour. Best thing ever. The gym is up the block from my job. I go everyday because you get a lunch hour every day so there are no excuses. I lost 30lbs in 6 months. Also I modifyed what I eat and cut out soda all together. I continued working out when I was pregnant with DC#2 and I lost all the weight immediatly. Everyone noticed what a big difference between those 2 pregnancys.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss

DS will be 10 months tomorrow, and I still have 30 pounds to go ( I gained 60). It is not easy. With DH's work schedule, the only time I can get the gym is at 5am, and that is only for an hr since he leaves for work at 6am. I have lost 10 pounds recently, and that is with diet (cutting out the snacking) and getting my butt to the gym. Now that it is finally nice, I try to take DS for a walk every day after work too. The winter didn't help since I was just sitting around with DS after work. Try to stay as active as possible.

Postpartum Weight Loss

When i got pregnant with DS, i still had about 10lbs to lose from having my twins the prior year. Then after I had DS, i had about 20lbs to lose. It slowly was coming off and finally i Joined WW. It has helped me tremendously. I made sure i was real strict with my self. I paid 186 bucks for 17 weeks so i was not going to waste that money. In the 8 weeks that i've been on WW, i have lost all the baby weight going back to the twins. Well, i have about 4 more lbs to go but i pretty much have lost all of it. I wasn't able to fit my pre-twin jeans past my thigh when i started. Now, i can get them up, zippered and buttoned without a problem and they feel comfortable on me. I did however throw them out after i wore them for a day and went out and bought a few pairs of new jeans :) The only thing i am dealing with now is the ugly belly. I need to start working out to tone up. I have the Jillian Michaels 90 day body revolution. I was doing it and felt great, but then it got too hectic with DH working really crazy hours and never being home (he's a CPA). Now that tax season has ended, i am going to start back up again. It's 30 minutes and I don't have to leave my house.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss

Let me tell that I breastfeed and really don't see anything amazing going on with weightloss lol. I gained 28lbs while preggo, lost 20 immediately but then gained a few back over the holidays. In January I had 12+ lbs to lose started my fitnesspal...I lost 4 in 6 weeks but was starving all the time. Now I switched up and am soon modified Paleo an like it a lot. I lost another 4. It has been a slow process but have about 4 to go to be pre-pregnancy and another 3-5 to be happy with my weight lol.

For workouts I take DD on runs in the jogging stroller 2x a week. I also bought Jillian michaels DVDs and did them a lot when DD napped longer but now it's hard bc she only does catnaps and I have no time for a shower after.

Anyway I agree with others that diet is number one and you have to be strict! Aim for a walk or run a few times a week if you can't make it to the gym.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss

Yes! I gained 40 pounds with dd 2. With dd 1 I gained 32 and lost it all in three months! I didn't get that lucky this time around. We have a family membership at the Y. I love itChat Icon

Dd1 takes swimming lessons there also. Dh will take her too the pool on top of that to teach her more.

I get to go to the gym four times a week. Two of those are nights after the girls are in bed at 730. I have to force myself to go.

Two of the days are during the day. I bring. Dd2 to babysitting. Love the sitters there!! I work out the shower quick and get home in time for her nap.

Diet is easy. Paleo!

I lost ten pounds in three months with Ten to go.

Good luck.
