Potty training....BTDT advice needed...
Alright girls, Christopher is almost 21 months old and I think he is trying to tell us he wants to go on the potty. For the past couple of days he has been making me change his diaper if it starts to feel wet to him, or the second that he poops. Is this a sign?
We've asked him "do you want to peepee on the potty?" several times and he says yes and runs to the bathroom.
Now, I was planning on waiting til the summer so he could just run around naked, but should I push this up?
What do I need? A ring? A potty seat? A stool? Do boys sit? I am so lost!!
Help!

Re: Potty training....BTDT advice needed...
I found this checklist it is pretty good
Physical signs
Is coordinated enough to walk, and even run, steadily.
Urinates a fair amount at one time.
Has regular, well-formed bowel movements at relatively predictable times.
Has "dry" periods of at least three or four hours, which shows that his bladder muscles are developed enough to hold urine.
Behavioral signs
Can sit down quietly in one position for two to five minutes.
Can pull his pants up and down.
Dislikes the feeling of wearing a wet or dirty diaper.
Shows interest in others' bathroom habits (wants to watch you go to the bathroom or wear underwear.
Gives a physical or verbal sign when he's having a bowel movement such as grunting, squatting, or telling you.
Demonstrates a desire for independence.
Takes pride in his accomplishments.
Isn't resistant to learning to use the toilet.
Is in a generally cooperative stage, not a negative or contrary one.
Cognitive signs
Can follow simple instructions, such as "go get the toy."
Understands the value of putting things where they belong.
Has words for urine and stool.
Understands the physical signals that mean he has to go and can tell you before it happens or even hold it until he has time to get to the potty.

Re: Potty training....BTDT advice needed...
he sounds ready.
Personally i would get the potty ring with the (tall) cup to go on your toilet. why go throught the training 2x? the reason why i say this is joseph sits to pee. i dont see why he has to stand. BUT with that said if he doesnt get his lil man pointed completely down he will pee between the seat and the bowl. (yeah a nice mess) the cup will catch it all. kate, skip the pullups. he really sounds ready. take him out to buy cool pairs of undies put him right into those. i think these pullups just confuse them. in the beginning with joseph if he had pullups on (which i would use to go out) he wouod go in them. but if i put him in underwear to go out he wouldnt.
good luck

Oh Kate! I am bookmarking this and making you my resource!!!
Unfortunately not an ounce of advice to share - Lucas still denies that he needs a diaper change when you can smell him clear across the house!
But yay Christopher!!!! Such a big boy!!!

Sounds like it would be a great time to introduce the potty...
Get him familiar with it, and take it from there

I think you'd be missing a window of opportunity if you wait. Definitely try it now. The more laid back you are about it, the more laid back he'll be and the stress won't be there. He might surprise you and totally pick it up.
