Powder or liquid formla?
Sorry to crash here but trying to think ahead... Just wondering what everyone's feelings are about powdered vs. liquid formula?
My cousin uses powdered and says its a breeze- she just makes the bottles on the spot with bottled water... sounds very appealing to me, not having to heat the bottle or worry about keeping it cold...
What are your thoughts?

I used the powder...I tried the RTF but Lucas never took to it as well..it's a slightly thicker consistency and maybe that made a difference.
I never gave Lucas warm formula...always room temperature so the powder did make that easier for me.

Love the powdered!!
So easy, I can make on the spot & room temp is so much easier! If you open the bottle of ready to feed, you have to store in fridge...........

I use both - but with the powdered I usually premake it anyway and store in the fridge. I find there are too many air bubbles when I make it on the spot.

Re: Powder or liquid formla?
I loved the liquid. Yes. It had to be warmed (I basically just took the chill out) but liquid was easier for me. If we were out at a restaurant or something, when giving our drink order, I would just ask for a cup of hot water. Wasn't bad at all.
For me the powder would clump or get stuck in the nipple of the bottle. I wasn't a huge fan.

I use RTF - much easier IMO. I use the powder for when we are not home.

Re: Powder or liquid formla?
I wanted to use just the powdered, but ds didn't really like it as much. Like someone else said, the consistency of the liquid is much thicker and i think he liked that better.

Re: Powder or liquid formla?
We use liquid. Just easier for us, and the few times we tired powdered DS stopped sleeping through the night.
I never saw the point in using bottled water to make the powdered kind because then it kinda defeats the purpose of the cost saving aspect.
We make 6 bottles each night for DS to have the next day (he generally takes 5 and one is extra just incase). At home I just pop it in the microwave. When out I either just let the bottle sit at room temp for 30 minutes or so, or if we are in the mall or something I will get a cup of hot water and stick it in there for a bit. Now DS will drink it cold so its not that big of a deal.

We use the RTF, but on occassion have used the powder. DD didn't seem to have a preference either, but we mainly use the RTF.

Re: Powder or liquid formla?
We use powder with boiled water. I keep the water in the fridge in a pitcher and make the bottles as needed. We also don't warm her bottles because when DD wants to eat, she wants to eat NOW and doesn't have the patience to wait for her bottle to be warmed.

We use the powdered. It's easier when we are out and about. I bought a little can of the powdered formula and I keep it in her diaper bag. When it gets low I just put more in.

Re: Powder or liquid formla?
We used RTF when DS was first born--it made life easier since we are first time parents and the powder seemed hard to manage for some reason (sounds silly now). But then we switched to powder.
The RTF is very $$$ and when DC eats more, you'll run through bottles in no time. Plus, I like the powder on the go--much easier than keeping a freezer pack with us all the time.

Re: Powder or liquid formla?
I had to use the liquid. DS was gassy and the powder was much more bubbley and caused him a lot of discomfort even with the special formula, we used Good Start

Re: Powder or liquid formla?
what do you all do when you are out and DC dosn't finish the bottle- do you just throw the formula out? I feel like that is such a waste- you can only re-warm the formula once after it was chilled right?

I will tell you honestly that in the early stages I mixed it 2 oz at a time, even though he was taking 4 oz. For me it was easier to mix more than to continually throw out.

Thanks everyone... now a silly question from a not yet mom... Is RTF room temperature formula? RTF = Ready To Feed. You have to refrigerate it after you open it.
