PP Weight Loss Question, especially for EBFing moms
I am 3 1/2 weeks PP and I've lost 30 lbs of my pregnancy weight so far. A good amount is swelling and I am definitely still swollen. However, the scale has not budged in the past week.
I EBF and I thought that was supposed to help. Did anyone else experience a plateau? Is there anything I can do to move it along? I cannot exercise until I am cleared at 6 weeks PP. I do try to walk every other day. I might not be eating enough because I get so wrapped up with handling DD and cleaning that I often forget to eat or I don't have time.
Anyone who can shed some light, thanks! I am getting so upset and frustrated.

Are you drinking enough water?
The bulk of my weight loss was during weeks 1-4 or 1-6ish.... after that it slowed down dramatically!
To be honest, my weight hasn't significantly changed since about that time... despite my healthiest eating efforts!

Re: PP Weight Loss Question, especially for EBFing moms
I didn't breastfeed but like you guys I lost a ton of weight in the first 4-6 weeks pp with both of my kids, I think that kind of happens whether you breastfeed or formula feed.
However, I just read an article about weight loss and breast feeding and wanted to share. It said that many women who breastfeed raise their caloric intake because they are still eating for two. However, those that go back to more normal eating patterns and breastfeed are the folks that really lose weight and give rise to the notion that you lose weight more quickly when you breastfeed.
I don't know-just wanted to help.

Re: PP Weight Loss Question, especially for EBFing moms
I just finished EBF for a year. I never weigh myself; I just go by how my clothes fit. I noticed that most of the weight was totally gone by 5 months. If you give it time, it will come off, especially if you EBF for a few months. Don't be too hard on yourself...nursing is a LOT Of work...and it will come off!

Re: PP Weight Loss Question, especially for EBFing moms
I am right there with you. I have been exercising, eating healthy and proper portions, but I just cant lose the rest of my baby weight. It is driving me nuts! I think I have lost 2 lbs since my initial 20 lbs weight loss.
I still can't do sit ups because my incision still hurts, but I am hoping when that feels better it will help with the belly

That's interesting. I was surprised that I was much hungrier while BFing than when pregnant. Supposedly, you need more calories for BFing, which is why women tend to be very hungry. I wonder if those who go back to eating similar amount to pre-pregnancy have any supply issues.
I lost all of the weight by 6-8 weeks PP. However, my body was very different and I definitely gained some back while still BFing. I think that was due to not changing my eating habits even though DS was eating solids and nursing less often.

I have definitely plateaued.
I lost about the same amount as you, but I could stand to lose 15-20 more...and it's not moving.
granted, neither am i...but that is another story all together

Re: PP Weight Loss Question, especially for EBFing moms
I lost 26 Lbs in 10 days with DS.
Lost the rest and then some by 3 month PP.
I think I plateau'd until I started pumping like crazy when DS was 14 weeks old. I had to pump 32 oz to keep up with him. He went through a growth spur and I was losing a good amount of weight.

Re: PP Weight Loss Question, especially for EBFing moms
I lost for about a month after DS was born, and then the scale, it did not budge for quite awhile. The last pounds came off very slowly over time. I honestly lost more when DS started to sleep more through the night and I had more energy.
It took me almost exactly 9 months to get back to my prepregnancy weight. It was funny though, after a couple months I just bought new clothes and accepted it--I had too many other things to worry about, and I didn't mind gaining weight to have DS.
It will come off, just give yourself time, watch snacking, and eat as well as you can--it's hard when you are sleep deprived I find. And don't listen to the women who say they lost it all in a few weeks, it's good for them, but everyone has a different clock when it comes to losing baby weight I think.

My situation exactly... I don't exercise and fully expect to lose the rest of my baby weight if/when I start to.

Re: PP Weight Loss Question, especially for EBFing moms
I was in total shock when I had DD--I went into the hospital weighing one number (sorry, not sharing ) and when I weighed myself the day I came home, I had lost 41 lbs.
My appetite was HUGE while I was BF. My weight kept coming off 2-3 lbs a week, until I took this to mean that I could start eating more. THEN the scale wouldn't budge.
Nursing moms get a HUGE boost of points on WW--I'm definitely going to do that this time. I did it for about 10 weeks and lost another 25 lbs. Sounds good, right? Too bad I still had about another 50 lbs. to lose. I came sooooooo close to my goal and cheesed out!
I am hoping and praying I have the same degree of weight loss this time with DS, and I plan NOT to take it for granted this time!

I'm doing the nursing plan on WW. I'm already below my pre-pregnancy weight and still continuing until I meet my goal weight. As PP said, you get a nice point boost because of BFing.
