Pray for peace
i have to say i WOULD have learned a lot from this thread, but all i learned was that there were two sides that clearly didn't want to hear anyone's opinion but their own so they each took every word said as literal and offensive. it's a terrible, sad situation that is obviously very emotional for those close to it, and it's a shame that grown adults can't have a civilized conversation about it rather than be bullies to those who don't agree with their beliefs.

Re: Pray for peace
For the most part, I think people were pretty civil in this discussion. There is a lot of emotion in this conflict, and I understand that. The only thing I don't like is being told I or anyone else who doesn't agree with Israel's actions 100% is an anti semite. That is a disgusting and hurtful thing to accuse someone of...

Completely agree! I am also glad that the thread remained because it is one of the most important current events now. I would have been very disappointed had it been censored and removed as requested

I also agree.. I learned a lot more than I thought I knew.
I had someone on FB who for the last week has been bashing anyone who voiced their opinion on the situation that wasn't pro-Israel. It got so out of hand and disgusting that I deleted her as did a bunch of other friends.

Re: Pray for peace
I didn't go over the whole thread: who can?? But thank you to Paramount for laying out on the very first page what is REALLY going on in the Middle East. Unfortunately, many media outlets (and I will not name names) paints a picture that is strikingly different from the truth!
Every nation has the right to protect themselves. And Israel, as the ONLY Democratic nation in the Middle East and the only nation in the conflict that actually values the lives of their citizens, certainly has the right to exist!
To quote Benjamin Netanyahu: "If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel"

Does anyone remember the Palestinians dancing in the street on 9/11?
what does the line above have to do with the conflict? America and Israel are two different countries.
Not quite in the eyes of Palestinians: America has been supportive of Israel in the past years so the association is definitely there. Also, if you check out different blogs and chat rooms, you will learn that a huge part of the (uneducated) world firmly believes that America is run by Jews, in particular, Jewish Masons. It's completely insane, but it's there!
This whole thig is basically about killing as many Jews as possible, in any way possible, no matter how many of their own civilians are killed.
So, to quote Golda Meir: "Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us."
How true!

I already reported the post for harassment. It was obviously meant to incite drama
Was this one quoted sentence above all she said?
I know there are a lot of Israel supporters here...and just wondering with all the massacring if innocent civilians in Gaza right now...has your opinion changed?
If that was all, I think it's absurd to call it harassment. If there was more that I don't see, if could be a different story.

The op deleted her original post. But yes, the hateful language she used and that you are using in your post are meant to incite drama

I read the rest of the thread now. I get that you're both arguing different sides. I still think it's being overly sensitive to call the language of that original post hateful, drama inciting, or harassment- but I guess that's the tip of the iceberg here. Carry on.

I read it and it was not hateful at all. It really was no more one sided than most of the posts. And to call it harassment was out of line

Seriously? Enough. The original post was in no way, shape or form harassment. You are perceiving it as such because of your views. She asked a question, and honestly, who are you to decide what her purpose for the question was?
Like I said, I don't know much about either side, but the refusal to see things from any other view than your own is ridiculous.

This. She was simply asking a question.....maybe not worded the best (which she admitted). But it was just a question on peoples views on the current event.

Re: Pray for peace
OMG people!! i've been keeping out of this since my first post but COME ON!!! now we're just going in circles!
flame me if you want but it's enough to keep attacking individual people on this thread. everyone stated their side like adults and as an Israeli and pro-israel i do feel horrible for the innocent Palestinians. that doesn't make me pro-palestine tho. it makes me a human with empathy. do i wish there would be no fighting?? of course! but that's not realistic over there. i wish Hamas would go away and let those people live and not in fear!
i wish there was a way to keep this thread up but to stop people from posting. obviously not everyone is reading all 12 pages and responding to earlier posts. everyone has commented on everyone's posts and questions have been answered.
i'm stepping off now!

Pray for peace
I think that people might have found the term massacre offensive rather than saying civilian deaths or casualties etc. I don't think it is harassment but not the best wording.

This. She was simply asking a question.....maybe not worded the best (which she admitted). But it was just a question on peoples views on the current event.
She also apologized although I don't think she needed to. It s ucked because she left because posters kept on harping on how or caused drama when they were actually creating the drama.
To be honest the two most hateful things on this thread is the disgusting quote that keeps getting posted referencing Arabs and the reference to Palestinians and 9/11. Both of these promote a huge generalization and spread hate. 9/11 has a trigger and reminding someone of that vision is like saying remember Palestinians hate Americans. And to be fair a lot of countries hate Americans.
Sorry, until this thread I was not too informed on the issue but those posting really shocked me. I did learn a lot, thanks for those who shared their personal experience and views and shared links.
I think the most mature two posters were the OP and MJandz (??) for owning the fact that they were speaking on emotion, apologizing and moving on by praying for peace.
