Preggo crashing......Does anyone have child health plus for their kids?
I want to apply but not sure if we have to wait till the baby is born or not. She will only be covered under my insurance for 30 days so I have to make sure I have insurance for her after the 30 days are up. Does anyone have any info on this? TIA!

i had CHP with my first DD 10 years ago- back then i had to wait for her to be born to fill out the paperwork.

Yes you have to wait for the baby to be born before you can apply. We had to cover both girls with my insurance and then applied as soon as they were born.

Thanks for the reply! Did it take a while for everything to go through? She will be covered under my insurance for 30 days but then I have to get her her own insurance. Im just hoping it will go into affect in time.

When I applied they said if you apply by the 20th of the month they are covered by the 1st of the following month.
Ex: You apply by Oct 20th (meaning they receive your paperwork) the baby would be covered Nov 1st. If you have the baby on Oct 25th, the baby would not be covered until Dec 1st. Hope this makes sense.
ETA: I overnighted everything so I knew they got it immediately. Also if you have to pay for insurance make sure to send your 1st month's payment with your application.

Yes that makes sense! Thank you so much for the info! My due date is Jan 3rd so hopefully we'll get the paperwork in in time!

Good point! How would I know how much to send in? Would I just figure out our monthly income by family size using the info on their website and send that amount in? Also would there be any reason why we may be denied? I appreciate all your help!

I went by the chart to determine that we were above the income limits and would have to pay the full premium every month. I then called CHP and asked them what the premium was for the insurance plan I chose and then sent that in with the paperwork.
I had all the paperwork completely filled out so that all I had to do when they were born is fill in their info and I even had my husband send it out while I was still in the hospital 
We had to pay $500 a month to add them to our plan so I def didn't want to pay that more than one month if possible.
