I am LIVID at Child Health Plus!!!!!
Last month I filled out the EXTENSIVE application, got all the documentation together - it was not a small thing - and sent everything with my check. I even called to make sure I had
everything I needed before I sent it out. I was anxious because his insurance was expring the end of March andI wanted to make sure it was set for April.
I got a letter the end of March that they received everything and will send me the insurance once everything is processed.
I just received a packet from them. With my returned check. They sent a letter stating pnce I filled out my aplpication and provided proof of income (BOTH OF WHICH I DID!!!!!!! ) they would then contact me and let me know if I am eligible.
Their office is closed now. I am so mad and at the same time I want to cry. I now will have no health insuramce for Cailen this motnh and tomorrw is his bday and need a well baby appointment....
What am I going to do? I spoke to Child Health Plus and they said I need to talk to Empire Blue Cross and speak to a supervisor and see if this can be cleared up before they can file a complaint...
I am so upset and angry....

Liza...dont fret. Tommorrow call them and begin the fax process. Tell them your situation and that you cant wait and will fax them all the info. Heres what you can do...tell your dr the situation and I am sure if and when you speak to child health plus they will back track the effective starting date.

Since I worked for EMpire, I can tell you it happens a LOT. it can get resolved.
If they cannot find what you sent, then you can fax copies to a supervisor.
IMO it wont get fixed fast. Maybe 10 days if you get a good supervisor.
IF you insist on having him see the ped to the supervisor. It might get done in 48 hours. Just insist on it.

i would call the doctors office and see how much it would be to still have the visit. My insurance only covers 6 well baby visits the 1st year, and i didnt know that till after his 7 month (7th) visit. The visit was only $65 though, (which we had to pay out of pocket) b/c the insurance still covered his vaccines despite not covering the visit, thank god. I know $65 can be alot to some people, and even though i was so ****** i know it could have been alot more. (if my doctor would have said he had a cold -which he actually did at the time, then they would have covered it b/c my doctor could have billed it as a sick visit, but again no one told me that till after so i still had to pay out of pocket). Maybe you can just have the visit and go back for the vaccines (if he was to have any) when the insurance goes through

Thanks ladies - I am calling first thing tomorrow morning - i am going to fill out the application again and make sure I have everything ready to go tomorrow - I am just so upset - I thought this would be his insuarance packet - not the "we f*cked up" packet!

I really hate dealing with my kids health insurance I went from not having to pay much to paying $178.11 for both my kids and now they are making us pay another $20 on top so now we need to pay $198.11 each child a month we dont have great jobs and this is insane.

It sounds like a mistake and I'm sure your application is floating around there. I wouldn't waste time filling out the application again, I would call first thing in the morning and ask to be transferred to the processing dept. It sounds like your check and app got separated but the app should still be in the system. You have the letter that proves that your info was received on xx date and that is sufficient to make the policy retroactive to April 1st. It's okay if he's a little late on a well visit. Emma's are never excactly on time.

OK - I even have the name of the woman who sent me the letter and i am going to ask for her....
I am going to try really hard not to sound obnoxious when I speak with her!!!!

why dont you ask them if you pay for a doctor's visit if the insurance will cover it if you have a bill? I have been told that they cover 3 months back....

I agree and Im certain of how it works, I did it myself for many yrs.
Get snotty, it will help you IMO.
Mistakes happen, But the only way to get them fixed is to demand they be fixed ASAP.
Since its a well child visit, just make a new appnt for a few days later.
DO NOT settle for a rep who answers the phone. Ask for a supervisor and tell them you have an "access to care issue" ( exact words) and need the application pushed through.
They can literally WALK it to the membership dept.
Its really not that big of a deal. And will be corrected .... FM me if you have a problem.
also, I wouldnt pay for a well visit and get reimbursed, it requires submitting more paperwork and waiting around. YES, you will 100% get reimbursed, but why go through the hassle when you can just change the appnt.

Is this the first time that Cailen will be enrolled in it or has he had the insurance already??
The reason im asking is because Paige has it and the first time i enrolled Paige i met with a lady from United Health Care (that the insurance I chose). I dont think i could have ever filled out the packet by myself. it seems so complicated. This lady met me at a library and filled it out and it got processed fairly quickly.
Paige has been on the insurance for a year and i just recently had to send in a renewal form but that was much easier.
