pregnancy and dogs ???
I had read somewhere that it may not be a good idea to be around cats when you are pregnant because their feces, urine and if you get bit or scratched by them could have a toxic effect on your baby.
Does anyone know if this is true for dogs?
TIA!

Re: pregnancy and dogs ???
First, you can be tested in your 1st trimester bloodwork for immunity to toxoplasmosis, which is what you "could" catch in a cat's litter box. Most people are immune and it's not an issue. It's perfectly fine to be around cats, mine is lounging on top of my belly right now actually . I've never heard of any issues with dogs.

Yup my Darling Dog never leaves my side (unless DH hogs him) They are still mans best friend & totally safe. I agree with the frontline.

You don't have to push your cat away. I was told you just can't or shouldn't change their litter box but you can still give them love and play with them.
I have two cats and a dog and I can't imagine not cuddling with them.

Re: pregnancy and dogs ???
There are no issues with dogs or cats. The cat thing is a total myth. Just either don't change the litter or make sure you wash your hands really well afterwards. I also agree about not applying the flea meds. There is no reason to treat either pet any differently.

Aww, don't push your poor cat away. It's fine to be normal with him. My cat crawled all over with my first and still does with this pg. You do not need to stay away from them. Just don't roll around in his litterbox and you'll be fine.
