Um, what???? No. Maybe it would be nice to do it every once in awhile, but there is no way I would make DH's lunch and dinner everyday! He should really be able to fend for himself for lunch...
yeah i agree with this, he's not 2 yrs old

Re: Preparing Meals for DH:
Pick up your slack? Wow. That's really disrespectful to you and your marriage; I hope your DH told her to mind her own business.
I don't make DH's lunch, and although I make dinner the majority of the time, it's a tradeoff - there are a lot of things he does that I don't do.

OK, so on to my question: Should I be “required” to make Vinny lunch and dinner every single day? I mean, I’m all about trying to be a good wife but I work just as much as he does and we both have very hectic schedules… And, even if I didn’t: is it a wife’s “job” to prepare lunch for him and cook for him? Am I a “bad” wife if I don’t?
How many of you send your DH’s off with lunch everyday all packed up like they are in third grade and how many of you make sure that dinner is waiting for him when he gets home each night? Just curious b/c if I don’t make lunch everyday for him then his Mom will go ahead and make it and leave it for him… Same with dinner and I heard her mention at a family party once that she has to basically pick up my “slack”.
Are we still in the 1950’s?
UMMMMM Not me!!!! More like the other way around! My DH comes home every night & makes us dinner even thought I usually get home before him and then at night he sets up lunches for both of us as well as our coffee pots & breakfast!
There is NO SUCH THING AS A WIFES JOB!!!!!!!

Re: Preparing Meals for DH:
Dan...if there is anything I know about you it is without fail that you are FAR from a slacker!!! Horrible of her to say that
No..you are not required to do these things. It is a different era, different time. You work just as much or more than he does. It is nice to be able to do these things for our DH's, but realistically, it can not always be done.
Don't let it get to you sweetie...

Re: Preparing Meals for DH:
I think I'd have to kick my mil's azz is she ever said that. how awful. why don't you just stay home and wait by the door with a scotch and soda for your dh? along with this pipe and slippers
sorry, this gets under my skin.
to answer, no you are not required to make all his meals. if you make lunch for yourself and you make a sandwich for him a the same time, thats ok. but if you are not making lunches, then let him do it. a freaking turkey sandwich takes 3 mintues to prepare. and for dinner, why not alternate. why should you cook just b/c you are the chick? my dh cooks b/c he enjoys it and he in much better at it then me.
sorry for the rant, but i hate that you feel this way.
