Preschool WWYD

I will try to make this as brief as possible. DS started preschool this fall--initially LOVED it, slowly has been complaining more and more he doesn't want to go, misses me, gets sad at school. I called his teacher (who I LOVE) this week and she thinks he may be feeling a little stress bc one of the kids in his class is having some issues and needs to be disciplined often. She said he seems happy at school but very quiet and keeps to himself (Which is not his usual at a playdate or playgroup)
She encouraged me to try to set up some one on one play dates with boys in his class--which I am, but out of 6 boys in his class, only 2 seem to be able to do play dates.
Now I will say that this preschool was not my first choice, but it is a lottery and this is where we got a spot. That said I love his teacher and feel she is one of the biggest assets at the school. He would have a different teacher next year.
I have to register in January for the following year---would you try to get into a different school (one of my first choices) and have DS start all over making friends (which he seems to be struggling with) or keep him in the same school. I know I can't pick his classmates so it really has nothing to do with the kid in his class having issues, I just included that so you could get the full picture.
Thanks!

Re: Preschool WWYD

If he's not improving by January I'd switch schools.

My dd stayed in her same school but when we moved up to the next "grade" she didn't go with her class. I moved her into another program in the same school. She had to make all new friends. They do fine.

Re: Preschool WWYD

I would switch. DD stayed with the same school, same hours and more than 1/2 the class switched to other programs (due to Universal, longer days, etc.)

They adapt well because they are so young - and the truth of the matter is that they will need to do it for Kindergarten as well.

Is there any way to find out if the other child will be staying in the same program? Maybe he will be leaving and then it won't be an issue Chat Icon
