Protesting or educating outside a clinic is just ONE way pro-lifers support the movement.
Um, right, I get that. And they're the ones that I have a problem with. I don't really need a lesson on anything, I'm quite educated on the subject. Just because I have an opinion that you don't like doesn't mean that I don't know anythign about pro-lifers. I was very specific about whom I was talking about. We all have our likes and dislikes. Ancient grandmas and grandpas shouting and picketing outside of Planned Parenthood and other places of the like are on my list of dislikes. Period. End of story.

you don't have to get nasty. i didn't realize you knew much about what else is being done as you focused on the protesters specifically, so i thought maybe you might not have been aware of some of the more positive things that are done. All pro-lifers are not mean and nasty as many people think they are. i was just trying to shed some light for you and others that might not have known - how was i to know your insight on the subject? SORRY!

Well, yes, I was nasty. And I apologize, however, I don't like it when people assume that I am not educated or informed about something just because I disagree with them. Anyway, I am not looking to continue arguing over this. We clearly have different beliefs, which is fine, and I am not looking to push how I feel on anyone. Just stating my opinion.

Ehh, I just drive by and give em the finger. Just kidding. Whatever. I just want to ask them, "Sooo, when these women have the babies they cannot afford or care for, can we come ask you for money and shelter?" That's how I feel. I'd love to know if they have a whole adopted brood of children at home that they care for if they feel so strongly about abortion
TIA with this.

Re: Pro-choice people- does this infuriate you too ?? I have to vent.
It's all a moot point anyway. Conservatives don't want abortion to become illegal as much as liberals don't want it to be illegal. Otherwise, they'd have NOTHING to ignite the religious nuts to vote for their party.
So it's all a bunch of BS. Abortion will never be illegal in the United States because Conservatives would lose their only issue with Religious people.

They signs that make me sick are the ones with really graphic pictures.. those i find unneccessary.
I agree- the more in-your-face the message is, the less likely I am to listen to you.
I used to have a pulmonologist who was in the same building as a doctor who did abortions, and two or three times an older woman screamed at me not to kill my baby.

I do not want to argue either. I think it was a misunderstanding. I was NOT assuming that you are not educated or informed because you disagree with me, I was just stating another way to look at the issue. I was also NOT trying to push my opinion on you or anyone else, I was just stating it like everyone else did. But, I do find on these boards, if it this issue in particular, people get upset and assume that I am pushing my opinion on them, whereas I am only stating my own which just happens to be different from most.

Re: Pro-choice people- does this infuriate you too ?? I have to vent.
OK, so I just had to chime in here because I was very recently in a similar situation with these extreme "Pro-lifers" when I went to Planned Parenthood shortly after finding out I was pregnant.
I ended up getting pregnant by a "friend of mine" after my divorce and had absolutely no intentions on raising a baby at this point in my life. I had just started over and was trying to get my own life together. However, I had also already decided to keep the baby as soon as I got the BFP---I'm 30 years old and not getting any younger, and am willing to sacrifice whatever I need to in order to raise this child. However, I didn't have insurance at the time (I'm on Medicaid now for the time being) and needed to have the basic tests done at a reasonable price to confirm the pregnancy. So, off to PP I went.
Well, let me tell you MY experience with these "so-called anti-violence, anti-""murder"" pro-lifers." I was walking into the clinic (in upstate NY) and was approached by two women (from a group of 4) who actually PHYSICALLY tried to restrain me from walking into the front door while shouting VERY nasty things about me and "murdering my baby!!!" They left bruise marks on my arm from trying to grab me. Of course, me being an ex cop from the South Bronx, this did NOT go over very well!!! I ended up throwing one of them up against the wall and it took all of my will power not to punch her in the face. So, I put her against the wall with her arm behind her back and told her in a very quiet, whispering voice that I was on my way into the clinic to CONFIRM MY PREGNANCY and have all the basic blood-work done. I was not there to have an abortion and plan to raise my child in a very loving home! I then proceeded to inform her that PP also does do OTHER things besides abortions such as b/c, HIV tests, STD tests, etc....and she's rather lucky I'm not calling the cops to have her arse locked up for assaulting me. I told her my background and warned her that she might not be so lucky with the next woman they try that with. Suffice to say, they all backed off and the two "physical" ones were not there when I came back out from my appointment.
So, to answer the OP question, YES some of the Pro-lifers DO INFURIATE me....however, I'm also well aware that there are MANY of them out there that do good things for women in need without the big ol' ugly diagram posters or physical altercations at the clinics.
IMO, EVERYBODY is entitled to their own opinions--this is why we live in the USA...I am personally pro-choice, but I do appreciate the pro-lifers out there who are not the radicals and actually put their opinions to good use.

I went to Planned Parenthood once. Not to have an abortion or anything like that. They called me a murder and I wasn't even pregnant.I just screamed back i'm not pregnant Jackass
The graphic pics don't do anything. I think they are pretty gross and not something I need to see but they wouldn't change my mind on my opinions on abortions. I think people can have opinions and express them but sometimes they go a little overboard. JMO of course

It was certainly not a fun experience! But, I'm pretty sure those two women won't be putting their hands on anyone else for a while...I think they were rather shell-shocked. They can scream and yell all they want, but when it comes to calling people very nasty names and get physical....somebody has to do something about it!

That is a terrible experience and women/men like that are the very extreme. The people who are pro life that I know are not like that at all. I don't think anyone should be harrassed walking into planned parenthood like that Passive peaceful sign holding is one thing....an attack is another!!

And THAT is exactly why these people should not be allowed near the doors of the building. If they want to protest let them do it across the street. You SHOULD have called the cops. U f-in believable

Glad that you stood up for yourself---people like that are ridiclious. Yell about it---voice your opinion, but dont' you DARE lay your effing hands on me.
Sadly if you called the cops they probably would have loved it--like they were martyrs.

Moosey:
NO ONE has the right to assault you. I can't imagine how many pregnant women who couldn't or didn't defend themselves have been brutally assaulted by bullies/criminals like that. It's like the animal rights people that scream in your face & assault you & turn the biggest animal lovers against them & their cause. They should all be treated like the violent criminals they are.

Freedom of Speech - They have the right to think, say, express their opnions .......
As long as they're standing outside the clinics picketing and not shooting doctors, I'm fine with it -

They can say what they like, as long as no one gets bruised/battered, or assaulted on the way in, whether they use guns or not.

you need to stop and ask these people with the adoption signs how many of their children are adopted. Most of these people have never adopted a child. I honestly can't stand these people
