Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
Hi ladies. I had my first appt last night. I am only 5 weeks and a few days so of course the doctor wasn't able to see much when doing the internal. He did say he saw the start of something but wasn't concerned bc I am very early. I expected that but DH didn't. So now he's worried. I am going for a blood test tomorrow and back to the office on Tuesday.
My questions is, how early we're you able to see something on the sonogram? Thank you!

Re: Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
Don't worry! My dr's office won't even schedule your first sono until 8 weeks for this reason - it is very common not to see anything until then. Hang in there and good luck!

Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
This is why most doctor's offices don't schedule the first appointment until 8 weeks - so you DO see something significant (the baby/bean, fetal pole, heartbeat, etc) and people don't get scared.
I know there are doctors who have women in around 6 weeks and they are able to see something around then.

Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
Thanks ladies. I'm gonna show this to hubby. He looked like a sad puppy last night, I felt bad. I liked that he let me come in early so I was able to talk to him face to face with my questions. I also had the stomach bypass so that was a worry I had and he eased my fears. has a seen a lot of woman that had that surgery and did great with their pregnancies.

Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
I went at 4 weeks and 5 days because I was spotting and they wante to make sure it wasn't in the tube. All you saw was a tiny oval in the uterus. Then i went back 5 days later and saw the oval got bigger. We waited till 8 weeks when we finally heard the heartbeat and saw the lo. It is nerve racking but perfectly normal.

Re: Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
I've had sonograms super early because all my pregnancies were through an RE. The earliest I had a sono was 5wk4d and we saw little sacs with yolks.

Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
I had a sonogram at 6 weeks because I went to the hospital for dehydration. My doctor's office wouldn't take my until 8 weeks and the hospital wanted to make sure the vomiting didn't affect anything and it was a viable pregnancy. We were able to see the heartbeat by then. By Tuesday you will be able to see something more...CONGRATS and ENJOY this time! Tell DH not to worry!

Re: Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
With my first pregnancy I was getting internal sonos at week 5. That's because I was seeing an RE. At that sono I was able to see a sac. Week 6 I was able to hear a hb. Week 7 she looked like a tadpole All pics are in my album.
Tomorrow I will be 7 weeks and I have my first appointment with my ob. They better do an internal sono or else I will flip my shit.lol

Re: Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
At 6 weeks we saw a little bean and the flutter of the developing heart. However a week makes a world of difference.

Question about first doctor appt and sonogram
Usually at 5 weeks you just see a sac;nothing inside. Towards the end of the 5th week you may see a yolk sac.
