Question about hospital stay during delivery -

Assuming you delivered your multiples without them going into the NICU, did you wind up with a private room?

I am delivering at Winthrop, plan being I make it to 38 weeks. I have heard rumors here that they are going all private rooms. When I asked my OB she said she heard the same rumor but doesn't know if there is truth behind it.

Anyway, am I crazy for hoping since I am having twins they will just give me a private room? Chat Icon

Re: Question about hospital stay during delivery -

Well, my babies are in tbhe NICU but I gave birth almost 2 weeks ago there. I did not have a private room because everyone and their mother gave birth that same day. My dr. Delivered a set of twins literally right before me. After 2 days DH complained to my nurse about my roomate because right before visiting hrs ended, a herd of people and kids came in to visit her. They were using the bathroom and everything. So she moved me to a private room. I stayed 5 nights due to bloodpressure issues. The nurse said they are trying to accommodate private rooms but a lot of people were giving birth. Everyone there was great!

Re: Question about hospital stay during delivery -

My babies were in the NICU but I was told ahead of time that they really try to keep you by yourself as long as possible when you have multiples. I had my twins at St. Charles and they held true to that, I didnt have any roomates for the 4 days I was there. Although I heard that you are the ABSOLUTE last one to get a roomate if your babies are in the NICU.

I delivered at good Sam...Begged and bribed for a private room, got a psycho roommate and the last 2 days got to not have to share b/c of the 3 days of hell she put me through.
Good Sam is busier then Winthrop though, and smaller.

With DS I had the private room at Winthrop..I would if you , BEG for it! Chat Icon

Re: Question about hospital stay during delivery -

I delivered in the city and I paid for a private room. I wanted DH to be able to spend the night since I was going to be there 4 nights. (c-section). It cost a lot but it was well worth it in my opinion.

Re: Question about hospital stay during delivery -

I gave birth to twins at Winthtop...They tried to keep me by myself as long as possible. I was the last one to get a roommate on the floor. I ended up with a roommate late late one night and I was only there one more night so I was private for most of my stay. My DS was in the regular nursery and DD was in the step up nursery for 1 day so I had them both in the room with me by the second day.

I delivered at LIJ on Friday and discharged on SUnday. Only Friday night I shared the room with another mom- she had a c/s.
I wasn't even concerned with private room, how many other moms I would share with, etc... I just wanted my girls to be healthy. Everything else wasn't important to me. I was over the moon with the babies.

LIJ's entire staff was AMAZING!!
