Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

Did you ladies end up bringing Pajamas with pants or night gown type of style? I am just curious because I usually just wear pants and a tank or t-shirt but am curious if I will have to keep taking the pants off if the nurses are checking Peri-pads and what not...

Thanks for your help! :)

I wore pants. The nurse never checked my pads. Just my incision.

I wore pants. They would look down the back of my pants to see the peri pads.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I was a mess, I didn't expect to have so many tears, I was in a a lot of pain. I was happy to be in a gown so that I could easily pee. I could barely move.

I also had pj pants for the day after when I felt better.

And tons of underwear you plan to throw away.
You may or may not need a lot of pads, bring your own if you hate hospital ones.

They didn't check me, but asked me all the time if I saw any large clots or discolorations etc.

Packed cute PJ's with bottoms and never wore them. Had a crash c and the first day was in the gown. Could barely move. When I was able to shower and move I wore a long top and robe. Too much to worry about pants when I had to pee

I wore the hospital gown right after. It made things super easy. After I was able to shower I put on pants. My mom had bought me a nursing set from destination light cotton pants, w/ nursing tank, and short robe. I have a c-section and had no trouble wearing pants.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I had my c-section around 11pm by around 11am the next morning I was able to change out of my gown and into pjs and my own robe, I brought two sets of top/capri pjs and they were perfect, after that first day I wore my maternity yoga pants and a t-shirt and just the pjs at night. They only checked my incision and you don't have to be in a nightgown for that.

I didn't personally feel comfortable in a nightgown with having so many visitors.

I was in the gowns. I had an episiotomy, lhemmorhoids, ots of bleeding and pain, so I used the hospital gowns and the special panties they give you.

The hospital was very hot when I was there also--December, so it might be cool now, but pajamas were just way too warm.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I brought a pant PJ set but never ended up wearing it. I could barely move after delivery. I kept the hospital gown on the entire time. Just a side note.. I thought that the mesh hospital undies sucked & didn't keep the pads in place so bood was everywhere. I wished that I had depends to wear to keep everything in place.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I wore Pjs, didn't have an issue. They never checked me really, just my incision. So, I guess it depends on if you have a vbirth or not? Everyone is different though, I'd bring what you're typically more comfortable in, that's what I did and I was very comfy.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I had a c-section so they helped my change my pads the first day only. After the 1st day when the cath was taken out I changed into my own pants and t-shirt.

They checked the incision once a day after that and I just pulled down my pants a little so they could see it.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I delivered my DS vaginally and my twins were a c-section. Both deliveries were in the evening. I wore the gown from the hospital that night and half the next day and by the following night I changed into my pj's (pants and tanks)

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

i packed a night gown and never wore it. I had a c/s and after I just wore the hospital gown for the rest of the day. The nurses helped to get me cleaned up until my cath was taken out. That was the worst of my bleeding. The next day I just wore pants. I was much more comfortable. I didnt have much bleeding after the first day.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I wore the hospital gown because my incision was too painful. A few days later I changed into pants and a shirt. I never wore anything but the gown to sleep.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I packed a 2pc pants/shirt PJ set and am so thankful I did. I also packed Depends Underwear that I wore with pads tucked inside. They were actually VERY comfortable. My regular underwear laid right on my incision so I couldn't wear them. The Depends came up higher and absorbed all that the pad didn't. (Huntington doesn't provide the mesh undies like other hospitals) I also packed slippers and old flip flops - both were thrown out when I left.

Re: Question about hospital stay for BTDT moms....

I developed preeclampsia during delivery and had to go to a special recovery room where I had to wear the hospital gown. I was not allowed out of bed for more than 24 hours after I gave birth. Once I was moved, I wore pajamas.

I used the hospital gown. One as a nightgown & another one over it as a robe. No sense ruining my own stuff. Chat Icon
