Question about sleeping at night. . .long

Here's a little background. . .my boys are 6 months old. They use to eat their last bottle between 10 and 10:30 this was about a month ago. The doctor told me they will let me know when they were ready to go to bed earlier. I would get frustrated and stressed b/c I saw all the posts where you were putting your kids to bed at 7:30 or earlier. We finally started moving the bottles up in 15 min. intervals. My one son would show signs that he was ready to go to sleep. We are now at 7:45-8pm for the last bottle and they are up stairs in their cribs by around 8:15pm. I am thankful that they put themselves to sleep so I don't have to do CIO. However, 1 son sleeps through the night and the other always wakes up and cries. It usually starts around 11 or sometimes even later. We try to ignore him but after a while of him crying he is completely awake and then won't settle down. I am talking we leave him for a while. He usually just wants his binkie and then goes back to sleep. It is so stressful b/c I never get more than a 3hr. stretch w/ him not waking and crying. Some nights they take turns and wake up. UGH. I know a lot of you would say to ignore him and let him CIO which we have tried. The other thing is, they are still in our room. I know CRAZY!! Our room is a master suite upstairs and their room is downstairs right at the bottom of the steps. We don't feel ready (my husband more so) to put them in their room yet downstairs. Despite them getting up periodically through the night they will usually go back to sleep and not fully wake for their bottle anywhere between 5-7. LAst night they both woke at 4:45 to eat. Is this normal? They were both in bed sleeping by 8 and slept for most of the night. Do you think they were sleeping too early or it won't always be that time? I know this all sounds silly. I am just so exhausted and stressed over it. I am so jealous of all of you whose kids go down early and sleep. My 2 boys are so different from one another when it comes to sleeping!! Please help with suggestions. Thanks in advance!!

I would consider dream feeding at 10-11pm before you go to bed. How many naps do they take during the day & for how long?

Re: Question about sleeping at night. . .long

I hear you with the exhaustion.
So one is pretty much sleeping through the night and the other wakes up a lot? This sounds like my twins.
DD is sleeping through the night now from about 7-7. On ocassion she has a bad night where she wakes up earlier. She's been doing this for about 2 months now. Your one baby who sleeps until 4:45 - have you tried just getting him back to sleep and not feeding him? DD was getting up at 3:30 every night and i would feed her. Then I tried to stop the feeding and give her the binkie and after a few nights, she stopped waking up.

DS is a little more difficult. We were feeding him around 12 and then he would get up again around 3 to eat. A couple of weeks ago he started sleeping a little later and getting up around 1 or 2 instead of 12, so we decided to drop the 12am feeding. Then a few nights in a row he started sleeping until 5 or 6, so I decided he obviously didn't NEED to eat in the middle of the night. So I stopped feeding him if he woke up then, and let him fuss. Most of the time he falls back asleep. He has his bad night still (like last night when he was up every hour) but the nights he sleeps until 5 or 6 are becoming more often.

They will be 8 months old next week. At 6 months I was still having a lot of issues with both of them. They didn't start sleeping more consistently until 6.5-7 months.

I don't know if this answers your question at all.
