Question about starting sippy cups
At what age did you start to introduce a sippy cup?
What kind/brand sippy cup did you start with?
What did you put in the sippy cup? water/formula?
TIA

Re: Question about starting sippy cups
I started at around 6 months. He really didn't take to it til 8 months though.
I tried every brand before he accepted the Nuby. I like the one with the straw.
Interestingly, he would only drink water from the sippy, no formula or milk, until he was about 16 months.

Re: Question about starting sippy cups
We started around 6 months with a trainer cup with the handles. We only put water in it.
I don't really "believe" in putting formula in a sippy cup b/c they won't be on it after a year, so why get used to that. Plus, it is hard to tell how many OZs a kid is taking with the sippy too.
DS uses a First Years Sippy cup for milk (since he was about 11 months) and the munchkin straw cups for juice and water as well.

.
Thanks..
I was thinking when I start with the sippy cup of putting some formula during her normal eating time in the sippy and giving that to her when she finishes the bottle. Instead of putting 6 oz in the bottle, I'd put 4 or 5 oz in the bottle and the rest in the sippy, just to kind of "train" her on using the sippy. I wasn't sure if 6 months was too early to start, she seems to want to grab and hold her bottle, but it's still too wide for her hands (I use the Born Free bottles).
I was thinking if getting the training handles they sell for the Born Free bottles for her bottle, it's the same concept of using a training sippy cup. Has anyone ever done that?

Re: Question about starting sippy cups
We started around 6 months and since we were using Born Free bottles, we went with the Born Free sippy cups and DD took to those pretty well!
We only put water and now milk in the sippy cups.

Re: Question about starting sippy cups
We started at 6 months (he really just held it and occassionally sipped)
We used the Dr. Brown's cup to start...once he learned how to drink from it we moved to a set from First Year
We started with water
