Question about table food - make ahead ideas?

I made DS baby food and loved it. I made batches and froze them and loved the convienience of just taking stuff out the night before and having everything ready when meal times rolled around.

Now that hes on table food im finding it frustrating to have to stop and make something everytime he needs to eat (3 meals and 2 snacks is alot of preparing lol)

Does anyone have any ideas of things you can make ahead and either freeze or refrigerate etc.

I know alot of people just feed their DC what they are eating but most times DS needs to eat before i even start cooking our dinner or were having something not good for him (unhealthy, too chewy etc)

Re: Question about table food - make ahead ideas?

The only thing I make DD right before she eats it is grilled cheese. I make a menu every week and prepare ahead of time.

Broccoli bites
Sweet potato and zucchini pancakes
Meatballs
Chicken cutlets
Pasta with veggies
Frozen breakfast foods like french toast sticks, waffles, mini bagels, etc.
Leftovers from dinner the night before

Snacks are always fresh fruit, so I just wash and cut that up the night before, unless it's something that browns. Then I do that in the morning or on the spot.

Broccoli Bites
- frozen broccoli steamed until soft and then chopped
- shredded cheddar cheese
- bread crumbs
- egg

Mix it all together and form little balls and then bake

Sweet Potato and Zucchini Pancakes
- peeled and shredded sweet potato
- peeled and shredded zucchini
- flour
- egg

Mix it all together and then shape into pancakes. Bake on a baking sheet.

I don't really measure or time things when I cook, but I'm sure you could google these and find recipes that work for you if you need specific measurements or cooking times.

I always freeze leftovers for my DD, even now that she's almost 2. In the freezer, we always have soup, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, chicken (cooked and cut into kid-friendly pieces) and bags of frozen veggies (peas, corn, carrots and edemame at least). If we're eating something she won't eat, I'll give her soup or chicken with potatoes and veggies. I usually have several kinds of muffins on hand, too, for snacks.
