Question for Parents of Colicky (or Formerly Colicky) Babies
I have been reading about sleep patterns for babies, and one doctor stated that babies who were colicky tend to have more sleep problems than others, even once the colic has passed.
Do you find this to be true? My son never slept that well for naps, though his nightime sleep was good until recently. So I would say it is somewhat.
I'd be curious to know why--I'm guessing maybe colicky babies are overstimulated more easily?

Re: Question for Parents of Colicky (or Formerly Colicky) Babies
My son, once he got over the colic started sleeping BETTER, but didn't sleep all night till he was 8 months old. /he napped pretty good. It got even better as he got older and he now naps 1 time a day for about 2 hrs (sometimes 1.5 sometimes almost 3) and sleeps ALL night--soundly unless he's sick, teething, or leaks

Re: Question for Parents of Colicky (or Formerly Colicky) Babies
yes, I found that to be true for us......DS was colicky and as a result could only be put to bed sound asleep as he had no concept of self soothing, otherwise----we have been working on it and he can now go to be drowsy/awake on his own and it has helped so much with naps and him falling back to sleep alone at night......I read healthy sleep habits happy child and found it to be very helpful to me.

For us, yes...
DD was colicky and now I have to rock her to sleep at night and she's still waking in the night for bottle/soothing..we're working on it, but she's 11.5 months now!

She had problems sleeping until she was 15 months old and we employed CIO. Ever since then, it's a solid 10 hours a night

Pretty much the same here, word for word, except DD is 13 months. We're going to attempt CIO very soon though. She needs better sleep.

Re: Question for Parents of Colicky (or Formerly Colicky) Babies
Nope. I don't find this to be true for DD.
DD was pretty miserable for the 1st couple months, whether or not it was colic is still debatable. She was however (thankfully) always a good sleeper at night. Started sleeping through the night at 6 months.
At a year we did CIO for 1 week (actually 3 or 4 days) and I can now put her in the crib awake and she goes to sleep on her own. We used to have to rock her into a dead sleep, sometimes up to 45 min - 1 hr before transferring her into the crib

Yes, it's true for us. DS did not sleep full nights until he was about 6 months old.
