Re: Question for SAHM
Mutual, but it was understood that if I had an opportunity for a job in law enforcement, then I wouldn't be a SAHM.

Re: Question for SAHM
I guess mutual. Dh left the final decision up to me because it was really hard for me to leave working/a career behind for now. I did know in my heart he did prefer I stay home and be with the kids growing up. I had never planned on staying home but after a few things - it made most sense and so I did it. I do miss working though...

Re: Question for SAHM
Actually, I was going to mention, DH said he would have been happy to be a SAHD, but he has the bigger salary, so it made a lot more sense for me to stay home. I liked the fact that he was willing to do this also.
Our dream would be to both work part-time, have benefits, earn enough, and both take care of DS. Though since we're dreaming that big, maybe we should just be independently wealthy!

Re: Question for SAHM
Mutual. My husband really wanted me to stay home, but I did not want to give up my job, so I work part-time.

Re: Question for SAHM
We both wanted me to stay home. DH would've supported my decision if I wanted to go back to work, though.

Re: Question for SAHM
My DH said he would support whatever I wanted to do - whether I wanted to work or stay home. He loves that I want to be at home with DS but, says he would totally support me going back to work if that is what I want to do...
So, I guess it was mostly my decision.

Re: Question for SAHM
DH very strongly encouraged it - but it was a mutual decision b/c I really wanted to stay home with DD as well.

Re: Question for SAHM
mutual, however, it made sense for me to go back part time (even though i really didn't want to and my DH didnt really want me to). I work 3 days, 4-5 hours a day and make really good $$. Plus i have my SIL who watches my DS 2 days for free and i only pay one day of daycare and get a major discount as i work for the school district the daycares in. If all these factors hadn't worked out, i would prob just have been a full time SAHM as it wouldn't have been worth it.
