Question for those who exercise
Can you give me a run down of your routine? Like what you do, for how long, and at what speed/weight. I was a pretty frequent exerciser before getting pregnant and then sort of lapsed in my first trimester (only did a few sparse workouts), but now that my energy is back I am back into it and was just wondering what every else does. Also, can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive heart rate monitor? TIA!

Re: Question for those who exercise
I'm at 34 weeks and still working out. I do cardio (walking on treadmill, elliptical, bike) and keep my heartrate under 160. My OB had said 150 originally and this is what I see in most magazines and websites also. But I've been seeing a physical therapist at my OB's office for an SI joint problem in my lower back and she is also a trainer at my gym. Based on my activity and fitness level she spoke to my doctor and said that I can go to 160.
My gym offers great classes! I take prenatal muscle definition 1 - 2 times per week. I also take prenatal yoga 1 - 2 times per week.
In the muscle def class we do squats and lunges with weights, lots of arm excercises with weights, inner and outer thigh work, shoulder and back weights, etc.

I did cardio kickboxing my whole entire first pregnancy, i actually was at kickboxing on my due date hoping that it would move things along...it didn't.

Re: Question for those who exercise
Unfortunately I live in Chicago. I go to this gym: LPAC
I would think that gyms on LI would have similar offers. Maybe NYSC? You can also take prenatal yoga at most yoga studios. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

I just looked up NYSC class schedules for my area and neither location offers prenatal anything. I would love to find a place that does prenatal toning and cardio.
