I remembered a post a couple of weeks ago saying we needed reference posts for this board. I saved a bunch of posts about questions for peds and put a list together. Feel free to add anything. HTH

1.What insurances do you take?
2.. What are your hours? Are there any evening or weekend hours available? How long has this doctor been in practice? ______ years
3.. Do they have separate waiting room(s) for sick kids?
4. How long is waiting time? How many patients do they see in an hour?
5.. How can I reach you in an emergency? Who handles them? How quick is the call back? How will we reach you if my child gets sick after hours?
6. What hospitals are you affiliated with?
7. What happens when I deliver my baby? Will you see them in the hospital? How do you feel about Hep. B vaccine at birth, in hospital?
7. What is the number of physicians in practice? Is this a solo or group practice? If solo, who covers when the doctor isn't available? If group, how often will we see other doctors in the practice?
8. How often do you want to see the baby in the first year? (well-child visits) and why?
9. About the Doctor
What do you like best about your job? Do you have children?
Where do you stand on:
A. Circumcision
B. Bottle-feeding
C. Breast-feeding
D. Parenting methods
E. Childhood obesity
F. Feeding on a schedule
G. Homemade baby food
H. Getting baby to sleep
I. Antibiotics
J. OTC meds (Tylenol, etc.)
K. Alternative medicine
L. Vaccination policies and schedules (are shots preservative free?)

10. Will you delay or separate vaccines?
11. What if my child has a problem that you aren't comfortable handling?
12. Do you encourage parents to call for routine/non-emergency questions?
(i.e. breast feeding, sleeping, etc.)
13. Will you be available for discussions on behavioral developments? (tantrums, discipline issues, social development, etc)
14. Do you have any sub-specialties?
15.Does the doctor respond to e-mail?
16.Does the practice have a Web site? If so, what's the URL?
17. How does the practice handle payments, billing, laboratory charges, and insurance claims?

Questions to Ask Yourself:
1.Did you feel comfortable with the doctor?
2.Is the office conveniently located?
3.How long were you kept waiting? ______minutes
4.Did the waiting room and the examination rooms have toys and books to occupy your child?
5.Was everything clean?
6.How helpful were the nurses and support staff at the office?
7.Does your child seem to respond well to the doctor?
8.Does the doctor seem to welcome questions
9.Does the doctor seem to know about the latest medical advances?
10. Is the doctor's style of communication a good fit with yours?
11. Is the doctor more inclined to give you directions or offer you options?
12. Did you feel comfortable with the doctor?
13. Was parking readily available?
