Random suggestions for new moms to be.
Thought I would start a special thread for all of you for us to post on when we think of something that may be helpful for new mommies to be.
I'll start:
If you can, find out what kind of formula they will be offering your child in the hospital so you can sign up for coupons. I don't recommend buying the formula ahead until you know it agrees with your DC, but some brands give out really good coupons to stock up on.
LIJ uses Similac Advance so I went to their website and I got a bunch of $5.00 off coupons.
My mom also has sent me a few she has seen in the paper and such.
I also recommend getting the little gowns with the opening on the bottom for night-time. It makes changing your baby at night when you are half asleep such a breeze!!
They sell them in packages at places like Target.

Thanks! I'm also delivering at LIJ so that's really good to know.

Limit the amount of visitors you get at the hospital and try to SLEEP! The nurses will keep the baby in the nursery as much as you need. Trust me, you won't want to let that baby go and will be thrilled to show him/her off. But those few days in the hospital are the only complete rest you will get FOREVER

Another suggestion is to get the "keepsake sock booties". I think they sell them at Target and Wal-mart. They seem to be the only socks that really stay on well. I think they are about $3.00 each.

Thanks for starting this thread..I have a question for you...do you really use socks? I feeel like most of the outfits for newborns have those feet built in......I have about 10 pairs of socks each..is that enough?? Thanks! Your little boy is ADORABLE!

10 pair is more than enough. DS is almost 10 lbs already and a lot of the newborn outfits are starting to get pretty snug.
I also like to dress him in 2-piece outfits with pants and such and not the 1-piece "pj-type" outfits all the time. Especially if we are going out or company is coming over. Need socks to go with them!
I also posted this the other day on a seperate thread, but Wal-mart has baby clothes for $3.00 each. This is their normal everyday price (not sale!) for those of you on a budget.
Wait to get baby clothes until after your showers ladies, too. You get so much.
I have a ton of the newborn onesies and half-shirts that he has already basically grown out of, too.
