reading books
My DS's teacher (who is super nice) started reading groups today. The book my DS brought home though is way below his reading level and super easy. I know the teachers are getting to know the kids, but at what point can I email his teacher, without sounding like "that" mom and ask for more challenging books. We do a lot of reading on our own too which is how I know he is reading real books and not just one or two sentences. I was thinking giving it a week or two and then sending an email, what to you think? Thanks!

reading books
Do you know if they did a reading assessment yet? They usually do it right away, but I've seen teachers take as long as three weeks to get it all done. At that point, they resort the reading groups and send home the appropriate level books. It could just be this is a filler book until the teacher finished the assessments.
