Re: Recomend a town in Nassau County!!!
How come not one person recommended Levittown???
I recommend Levittown 100%. We love it here. Lots of young families, great neighbors, excellent schools, lots of extra cirricular things for the children to do, free pools during the summer, plenty of shopping. Ten minute drive to the wantagh train station, or the bethpage station.

I am new to the area, but I think there are some parts that are considered FP, Queens and other parts that are in Nassau that are called FP, but not in the incorporated village.
Some of the "nabes" that are in the village are near the train station and are commonly called by their sub division - like Colonial Gardens or the Westend. There are certain streets north of Jericho that are also in the village too.
HTH!

Then when you look up a house, see that under taxes there is also a village tax listed. That would mean it's in the village. It's a bit more complicated than that, but it's a start.

I think b/c hte OP asked for "close to the city". I don't think Levittown is what most people consider close to the city...as well as some other towns listed. But maybe I am wrong? Do people really consider Levittown close to the city?

I say stick with the Bablyon Branch..
Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa and Massapequa Park
HTH
In that price range, I think that these towns are probably your best option. They are all very nice.

No.
There is FLoral Park Queens, Floral Park Crest and Floral Park Centre (confusing, yes).
When you look on MLS, www.mlsli.com, search Floral Park. Then when you look up a house, see that under taxes there is also a village tax listed. That would mean it's in the village. It's a bit more complicated than that, but it's a start.
Yes - it can be a bit confusing but everything you wrote is right. I'd also recommend (if you look in Floral Park) to stay south of Jericho Typke, only because you'll be closer to schools, the main street (Tulip Avenue), recreation center and pool, etc. It's a great town!

It's about one hour via LIRR (wantagh or hicksville stations) you could probably catch an express from hicksville.
