Recommend a wireless router please! (Thanks everyone... got what I needed!)
I have to run out and pick one up. My BIL was able to fix my old laptop! 
We hooked it up yesterday! I got the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router.

we have a Netgear Rangemax 802.11g wireless router---affordable, security, and works great for like $60-70
not sure how much range you need---so that might make a difference in looking.
I'm a fan of netgear and linksys

range would mean how far you can go from the wireless (i.e. 100 feet) and still pick up the signal
i would recommend my linksys, but generally linksys and netgear are regarded as the best

What do you mean by range?
if you head to a place like best buy--they usually will have a display of some sort--showing you the range difference of the routers.
if you are just using it for home and the computer will be relatively close to the router--you just want it wireless. you won't have to worry much about range. but if you have multiple computers or you want to use the computer far from the router -- you want better range -- so the router has the signal strength to send the signal to any and all computers in the home.

it works perfectly in my apartment- which is the size of a small ranch house

I have a D-Link WBR-1310 - It is a few years old but it works great
You will be fine with either D-Link, Net Gear or Linksys
