Rectal thermometer question
So this is interesting. We have a rectal thermometer that we've used on DD#1. We of course clean it with soap and water and or a baby wipe, then I take an alcohol swab and wipe the tip.
Well, DH said we can use the same thermometer on #2. Now, last time I used it, DD#1 had a 103.7 temp and had a benign febrile seizure. I just can't bring myself to use the same thermometer on the newborn, not that the new one is sick, but sometimes I like to check for piece of mind if she feels a little warm. Am I crazy or should we invest in another thermometer? What do others do?

I'm not sure why it would make you nervous but if it is the memories ( which is understandable) then just buy another one. They are only a few dollars and if it makes you feel better is worth it kwim?

I agree, DH wants to save $$$... I guess it's like some underlying fear that somehow the thermometer is contaminated with germs and will get the newborn sick. I know that's probably absurd since the illness was back in June and we do disinfect it with the alcohol. I'm just a crazy germ-a-phobe - LOL.

I would just buy a new one if it's making you uncomfortable. Maybe you can find the same one and your DH won't even know

Re: Rectal thermometer question
I would just buy a new one, mostly for peace of mind. They are less than $10 anyway.
