Reduce the Bloat & Gas?

9w3d and I look 6 months pregnant! I'm so bloated and I want to eat anything I can every two hours so I'm already gaining weight!!! It's getting harder to hide it and since I previously had a loss earlier this year I'm not ready to share the good news.
I'm also super uncomfortable at night. I can't stop burping and farting (silent and deadly) which makes falling asleep difficult. Any tips to control these issues or is it just part of the course?

ETA: Ginger Tea before bed helps with the burps!

Re: Reduce the Bloat & Gas?

The bloating is hormonal- kind of like how you bloat before getting your period. It's like water retention.
Not much you can do for it, just keep hydrated.
As far as the gas, can't help ya there- i had it before, during and after pregnancy so I'm no help!

I'm hoping it gets better. I am so uncomfortable at times, but so happy I'm expecting that I hate to complain.

My dr has "ok'd" taking tums or Pepcid (I think it was Pepcid-- have only taken the tums). I have had really bad indigestion develop over the last two weeks or so (I'm 14 weeks now) -- I totally feel your pain. I ate 3 grapes on the train this morning and started having indigestion - 3 grapes! It makes things very uncomfortable. Good luck!

For gas you can take Gas X tablets (they have simethicone which is safe during pregnancy).

I also look 6 months pregnant and I'm 12 weeks so I'm guessing it's just going to stay there and not go away. My doctor said it's not bloat it's my digestive system slowing down. He said what normally takes 2-3hours to digest and get your belly looking flat again will take about 6 hours which then just leads into another meal so it never goes away. I try to eat small meals throughout the day to keep it somewhat tolerable. It's terrible though and really killing my self esteem.
