Refrigerators....which style?
Please give me the pro/cons of either your side by side or freezer on bottom. Looking at both and cant decide which I like better. TIA!

Refrigerators....which style?
I HATE our side by side. It was here in the house when we bought it last year and I can't wait to get rid of it. Even though its a "regular" size, it seems like we never have room for anything in the freezer - one good shopping trip and we're trying to move things around to get things to fit. And forget about if you want to fit anything "big". I had really liked having a freezer on the bottom - felt like it was easy to find anything and I always had enough room.
ETA: we have talked about getting a second frige for the basement - maybe then I wouldn't mind the side by side so much.

Forget side by side. It sucks. Get a French door with freezer on bottom

We have side by side. It's ok. Not a lot if room if you ave a lot or big stuff. If I had to do it over I would have gotten French doors with freezer on bottom. Looks like it offers more space.

See and I hate the freezer on the bottom. Lose things all the time. It's really all about how you shop and live day to day. We don't stock tons so I never feel like I'm out of space and for parties etc we have the one outside.

French door with bottom freezer. I find the side by side ones to be much too narrow.

We're going to be putting in a Sub Zero with a bottom freezer. Can't wait! I also dislike side by side, sooo not enough room for me! Bottom freezer all the way in my book.

right now we have an old school one with the tiny freezer on top, but when we get a new one we're getting a side by side-i like having the shelves in the freezer to organize things

I have this and have to say, I hate the freezer on the bottom. It is very small (and my appliance is large). If you like to freeze things, bottom freezers aren't enough.

I have a side by side in my kitchen- do not like freezers on the bottom for organization reasons. I also have an old school top freezer, bottom fridge in my garage for stuff we buy in bulk and parties.

Re: Refrigerators....which style?
I just compared my side-by-side to every French door fridge at HD on-line. My fridge has much more capacity than any French door fridge in the same price range. To get a bigger fridge than mine costs at least $500 more

Re: Refrigerators....which style?
Depends on size.
We just (maybe 2 years ago) got a regular door, freezer under, no water dispenser, but yes ice maker SMALL fridge. It was one of maybe 3 that fit into our space.
We love it!

Re: Refrigerators....which style?
it's totally preference. I like the freezer on the bottom just because of the width factor. The side by side is more of a struggle when you need to put like a cake or something wider inside.

Re: Refrigerators....which style?
We have an old one with the freezer on the top. I actually prefer ours in comparison to other styles. We have huge 30+ person barbecues every summer, and we are always able to store all the burgers, hot dogs, chicken, steaks/ribs, etc. in there with ease (plus our day-to-day food).
If we got a new one, I'd get the same style.

Re: Refrigerators....which style?
Honestly, we got new appliances and went with the old school freezer on top. It is HUGE and way easier to access. we had a bottom freezer and stuff gets piled on top on each other in the pull out basket and I always felt like I was digger through it. Not to mention I didn't like getting on the floor to get into the freezer.

Re: Refrigerators....which style?
Hate my side by side, can't put a regular door one because I don't have the room for the door to open fully. Can't put big platters in the fridge or wide items in the freezer. I also feel like I "lose" things on the bottom shelf because I can't see them. Next one is going to be french door bottom freezer.

Re: Refrigerators....which style?
I've only ever had a side by side & I love it. I like that it has shelves. I can organize everything & find what I need easily. I've never really had to put anything wide in my freezer, like a cake so I've never been frustrated in that sense.
Mil has a bottom freezer & everything is just thrown in there like a bottomless pit so I think for me, I may not be a fan.
