Registry items for 1st time mom
Hi ladies,
I was hoping you could help me with my registry. We are expecting our first LO and we registered for all of the major items.
Can you please recommend the smaller items that you use/love/wish you would have registered for had you known then what you know now?
I'm looking for a bunch of low cost items to fill up our registry with that will be useful.
TIA!

Re: Registry items for 1st time mom
DD was born in may so got used to the sound of the A/C while sleeping so I bought the Dohm sound conditioner once fall came & we were done turning A/C on. I love it even tho it only has 4 levels of 1 sound (kinda like whooshing air). It's a little pricey for a sound machine if u were buying it on ur own but put it on ur registry & let someone else buy it lol

Re: Registry items for 1st time mom
just had our ds a month ago and this are the things i really like/depend on... some we hadnt registered for and had to run out for in those first days when it was so hard to leave for even a few minutes- i wouldve rather had this stuff and had to return it, if necessary
of the the biggest things was getting newborn size (in carters) because of the handmits that are already attached. i got basically all 0-3 month clothes, which number 1, were huge and i had an 8 lb baby but more importantly, none of them had hand mittens attached- i have a baby who scratches his face all the time making himself bleed and we had to run out for the newborn sizes- hand mittens dont stay on too long.
hand mittens- for those outfits that dont have them or just as back up. they get lost, wet from babys mouth, etc.
a few different types of bottles- we only had one kind and the nipples (slow flow) were still too fast and had to get a different brand.
both newborn size and size 1 diapers since you wont know which will work best
vaseline
q tips- for babies
cotton balls
swaddle blankets and a few different kinds- i likes the muslin ones best and the cotton ones were okay but regular receiving blankets didnt work too well for us. also you might want to get a swaddle pod or something like this- didnt work for us but does for a lot of babies
a nightlight or small lamp for middle of the night changes
aquaphor
one of the best things i got on a rec from a post was to use cloth diapers as burp cloths. the burp cloths are so thin and they fall off your shoulder.now, i used them in the first week for that but baby doesnt spit up much luckily, however i LOVE them for diaper changes- if you are having a boy, youll want to cover him up so he doesnt pee during the diaper changes- this is the best because wash cloths and things like that just didnt cut it.
munchkin sound and picture projector- i think they call it a sound system
nipple brush- and bottle brush
personal choice but maybe pacifiers
not essential but very happy with the organization that the diaper caddy provides
multi use pads- love these- i keep one or two doubled up on the changing pad, over the changing cover at all times- that way the changing cover is spared and only has to be changed once a week or so
a boppy
we have a rock n play sleeper but got a good tip to get a neck roll for it so we got one by boppy and like it a lot
individual diaper trash bags- like these a lot- first, i thought they would be such a waste- but when the diaper pale starts stinking, they are an extra layer of protectin from the smell, lol. also great for going out with baby

Re: Registry items for 1st time mom
from the above responses, I'm sure everything has already been listed, but this is what I suggest:
-desitin cream -package of cloth diapers (they make the best burp cloths) -aden & anais blankets for multipurpose -nail clipper -nail files -socks -rattles -fabric books -stuff for your diaper bag (travel wipes, disposable bags for dirty diapers, etc.) -vitamins (either di-vi-sol or tri-vi-sol) -if breastfeeding, lanolin cream and nursing pads -pacifiers

Re: Registry items for 1st time mom
burp clothes (I can never have enough!) triple paste ointment or maximum strength desitin dove soap for sensitive skin (ped. told us not to use johnson's right away) boogie wipes disposable plastic bags for dirty diapers (these are great for our nursery since we are upstairs and our garbage is downstairs!) extra nipples for the bottle travel pack of wipes for diaper bag sleepsack sleepsack swaddle (I didn't use the regular swaddle me, just the sleepsack one. the regular swaddle me was so tiny and I felt like I stuffing ds in it like a sausage!) sheets for crib and pack and play gripe water advent soothies pacifiers (this is what the hospital had and ended up being the only paci DS would use...the others were too big for him) mobile for crib sound machine undershirts (long and short sleeve) socks bottle brush bottle drying rack

Re: Registry items for 1st time mom
If you didnt have this yet, A travel swing has been my life saver when we go out! Or if I bring DD to my sisters to babysit etc.
Portable swing
Also love sleep sacks! I have the halo sleep sacks. Homedics sound spa
Eta: Aden & anis receiving blankets are the only receiving blankets that are big enough, and stretchy enough to do anything. All the others I got are just used as burp cloths now.

Registry items for 1st time mom
My dd is now 8 months old and I sooo wish I had put all the safety items on the registry... Like gates, outlet covers, cabinet locks.
But for right away, the thing I had to run out and buy immediately was disposable breast pads. I leaked through many many shirts before getting these and actually ruined some!
