registry question: clothing

So my sister just registered for her shower, and I will be in a few months for my own. I noticed she registered for a ton of onesies, bibs, burp cloths, swaddling blankets, socks, etc.. She did long sleeve ans short sleeve white ones in all sizes up to 12 months, and then did a bunch of gender neutral colored sets in all sizes. She did the same with socks and PJs and stuff.

I was wondering if any of these are really necessary? My thinking is that alot of people will buy you all of those essentials anyway, and if you put too much of that stuff on a registry, then you'll get less of the more important things you need.

Anyone have an experience to share? Curious to hear your thoughts :)

registry question: clothing

I say yes for the onesies bc you will use them. Registering for a bunch of bibs, blankets, clothes isn't worth it. Especially clothes. I got ridiculous amounts of bibs and blankets and clothes without registering for them.

I would never put clothes on a registry. Not sure what the sex of the baby is, but I'm having a girl and feel like I'll get TONS of clothes (maybe even more than if I was having a boy). In addition, when you create your registry, you scan the barcode of the item you want, and for clothing, this will be a huge pain in the @ss for people trying to buy off the registry. It's easy to find a scanned item, like a baby monitor, but would be next to impossible to find a piece of clothing labeled/scanned as "6 month Carters short sleeved onesie". I think adding clothes also pushes larger items down further on the registry, making it less likely people will buy them.

Re: registry question: clothing

I don't think it's necessary to register for clothing because people will get it for you anyway... it's a default gift for people who never even look at your registry, like coworkers or neighbors for example... so you will get tons of clothes no matter what.

For your registry/shower, it's way more important to register for the bigger items you want, like the specific bouncer, high chair, stroller, pack n play, bathtub, etc.

I registered for specific swaddle blankets and bibs. I didn't put clothes on it because people are going to buy what they want/think you'll like anyway.

registry question: clothing

I haven't had my showers yet, ones tomorrow and ones next week. But at my friends suggestions I put a pack of long sleeve white onesies in each size and one sleep sack in each size on the registry, that was it for clothes. Especially having a girl. I expect yo get a lot. I didn't put any socks because my mom bought some and put one set of gloves, just in case no one gets them on their own and I didn't have time to go shopping after my showers I know I have them.

As far as blankets and towels I only put on what I really wanted...
I put the blankets to my bedding set, the stroller blanket that I love, and the Aden and Anais Muslim swaddling blankets on my registry. (Because my friends said they are the best). I really wanted specific towels And wash clothes that go well with my pink bathroom, so even though I expect other people to get towels/wash clothes, I knew what I wanted and put them on the registry,

I didn't register for bibs at all, but I dId add clothe diapers as rags (again friends suggestions).

I returned all my white onesies except for the 0-3 months and side snap ones. Never had a purpose.

If she's at bbb, you can return anything you later change your mind on.

People get you random things, I got 10 crib sheets and 900 blankets.

Initially i registered for items like this including small items like diaper cream etc. My best friend looked at the items and told me to take off every item under $15 because people will most likely buy you smaller items anyhow- clothing, creams, etc. I did receive a ton of blankets and towels that i never used. One thing i couldn't live without were the Aiden swaddles.

I registered for a couple of bibs with cute sayings on them. (Maybe 2 or 3). I didn't put any onesies or any stuff like that on there. I ended up with so many bibs, onesies, blankets, burp cloths , wash cloths, etc. I could've opened up my own store! People will buy those things regardless.

registry question: clothing

I didn't put any clothes on my registry bc 1) people buy clothes no matter what and get what they think is cute and 2) when you register vs when people buy may be a few months difference so the clothes you registered for may not be available anymore! Blankets and bibs I registered for some that I knew I definitely would want or went with the theme of the room! This time around Im pregnant with a girl so most of the big stuff I got gender neutral but I started a registry just to keep track of what i want and need. I kinda figured out a room theme so I put some blankets and stuff that match! Good luck! Registering was a fun time! I actually did a lot online!

I had some blankets, burp cloths, and bibs on my registry. I also had plain white onesies on my registry. I didn't register for any other clothes and I am so glad I didn't. At my shower I got more clothes than I know what to do with! Everyone was so generous and I have nothing left on my registry. I think people just can't resist baby girl clothes!

This was my thinking exactly! I know that everyone NEEDS onesies, but I don't think it's necessary to register for them. I feel like all the little items on her registry made it look HUGE

The reason I registered for onesies is because I wanted Carters, not Gerber. I also wanted a variety of long sleeve, short sleeve, and side snap.

registry question: clothing

So after my first shower I can 100% say don't register for clothing if your having a girl. I got do much clothing yesterday. Problem is, I have very specific tastes and a lot of it was not my style. I'll be sorting clothes for a week.

I will say I glad I registered for sleep sacks because the only ones I got were off my registry. And same with long sleeve white onesies which I'll need to go under many of the outfits

I still have another shower to go so I expect a lot more clothes.

Do you use the aden and anais to swaddle with? or were they more for like receiving and comfort? I see that alot of people register for these

Re: registry question: clothing

I got so many clothes for DS at my shower I didn't have to shop for him for like a year! I didn't put any clothing on my registry either. People will usually pick out what they like regardless so I don't think it's necessary to put clothing on a registry.

I will say with a very cute exception the only wash clothes I received were the ones I registered for. And we have a shore cottage, so the exception was for down there.

I never swaddled with them. I had the A&A easy swaddle blanket to swaddle with. I used the bamboo swaddle blankets as regular blankets for the car seat or stroller on a breezy day. I now use them as a blanket for the crib b/c they're so light and breathable.

Re: registry question: clothing

your registry prints up on 1000000 pages if you put clothes. I wouldnt list any clothes so the important things are purchased and an overload of pages dont print .

registry question: clothing

I wouldn't do clothes. I have returned so much or exchanged for bigger sizes bc I got soooo much. I would do towels, wash cloths, sleep sacks and very few blankets. I like the A&A ones for swaddling, throwing over the carseat or while nursing. Also maybe one fleece one for the carseat in winter. I find most receiving blankets useless and got more homemade blankets than I know what to do with. I wouldn't do bibs, socks, or cutesie burp cloths but I would do cheap cloth diapers to use as burp cloths.

Re: registry question: clothing

I didn't put a single piece of clothing on my registry, but still received more than I even needed to get through the first 6 months.

If I had it to do over again, it would certainly not register for any clothes again.
