Reopening Plans - Updated
Since I know our plans have changed a lot since our first post (I updated the plans multiple times) - what are your district's "current" reopening plans?
I am curious as everyone who works with DH are sending their elementary aged kids 5 days a week. He's the only one who isn't.
As of this am - K-2 goes 4 days a week (Weds cleaning). 3-12 goes 2 days a week on an AA/BB schedule (so either M-Tu or Th-F).
The week of 9/8 we are full remote and then the hybrid model starts on 9/14.
Masks all day, except for mask breaks.
On remote days, kids will be synchronous learning with their in school classmates through Google classroom (and they will be logged into Google classroom in school as well since they are limiting paper distribution).
You are allowed to switch back and forth between hybrid and full remote at any time.

Re: Reopening Plans - Updated
All day everyday for elementary. Middle and High School are Hybrid but I didn't pay attention to how because it doesn't affect me and I get confused by this A/B bullshitt
They aren't clear on masks- something like- when they can't distance.... but it's clear as mud right now on that.

Re: Reopening Plans - Updated
I’m in CT. Elementary school students will be able to attend 5 days per week. Grades 6-12 are on a hybrid schedule with students attending either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday based on their last name. Students also have the option to do full remote learning. Based on the district survey, 10-28% of students (percentage varies by each school) are choosing fully remote. I believe the higher percentage of students doing remote learning are at the elementary schools in my town.
ETA: For those going fully remote, they will be assigned to teachers who have chosen to not return to the building for medical reasons. I’m not sure how it would work for 6-12, but for elementary school, they may not be assigned to teachers in their school. The students learning remotely would be grouped together with efforts to keep the kids from the same school with each other. I haven’t paid too much attention to this since we plan to send our kids to school.

Reopening Plans - Updated
K-6 full 5 days, or virtual 5 days by parental choice - locked in until December. Masks on bus & in hallways. No masks at desks in classroom. All specials push in except PE which will take place outdoors weather permitting.
7-12, A/B schedule or full virtual at parental option. Virtual on the off (A/B) day. Again, masks on bus and in hallways, but not at desks in classrooms. PE outdoors weather permitting. Push in for specials when it can be managed, otherwise kids will be in the hallway going to next class. School is trying to establish cohorts. They will probably be able to accomplish that with 7 & 8 but not 9-12.
Lunch for all grades is in the classroom. The absolute refusal of the school to require masks (our super said in no uncertain terms she will not require them to be used all day without a mandate from the governor) was the tipping point for DH to adamantly refuse to send DC. He thinks that by not requiring masks all day the school is not doing absolutely everything they can to keep the kids safe.

Re: Reopening Plans - Updated
K-12, all hybrid. 2 days in school, 3 days home.
Mondays virtual for all students in the district. Synchronous learning with teachers.
T/W - Last names A-L Th/F - Last names M-Z
When the kids are home on either T/W or Th/F they will have Asynchronous learning...scheduled assignments to complete on their own at their own leisure.
According to our SI...we do not have the space or the staffing to adhere to CDC & DOH guidelines. Even if they had the space, we are told they do not have the funds to hire additional teachers. Yet rumor has it our district has excess of millions according to the osc audit...but I don't know if this is true or not.
People in our town are livid...and I believe they are organizing a petition and a rally... I won't participate because I don't see any change coming from it.
I am upset because I am worried for my sons education. He will obviously learn a quarter of what he normally would attending school full time.
I am lucky, as childcare isnt really an issue for me. I work from home full time and I have parents/inlaws that can help if needed.
It's going to be a terrible school year for sure.

Reopening Plans - Updated
K-5 A/B plan with alternating days so 1 week kids A kids are M/W/F and the next week they are T/Th which is a planning nightmare for working parents
6-12 A/B/C/D plan- meaning students go in once a week with 1 week out of the month they go twice
These days are also never the same so I essentially don't have a set schedule for either of my children.

Wow..that is also not taking the teachers' health into consideration either.

Home District:
K-5: Full time, 5 days/week. Masks required, with breaks throughout the day. Entry/exit doors by grade level to reduce crowding. No visitors. Health survey must be completed daily. Lunch in classrooms. Recess broken into groups by stations. Push-in specials.
6-12: Didn't pay much attention bc my daughter is only in 1st but they are hybrid A/B schedule. Asynchronous lessons when virtual.
My Work District:
K-12: AA Monday/Tuesday, deep clean Wednesday, BB Thursday/Friday. Staff and student temperature checks upon entry. Staff health survey daily. Lunch in classrooms. Masks only when 6' of distance cannot be maintained. Asynchronous lessons when virtual.

Re: Reopening Plans - Updated
My son goes to middle school at a DOE school. We had a zoom meeting today.
You can choose virtual. 90% of his school chose blended, 10% chose virtual, as I've said before, you can chose to go to virtual at any time, however you cannot go from virtual to remote until a predetermined time (I'd assume quarterly)
They have 3 cohorts. They are set up alphabetically with some exceptions of siblings so they can be together. My son is Cohort A.
Cohort A will have school Week 1 - Monday and Wednesday, Week 2 - Wednesday only and Week 3 - Tuesday and Wednesday.
Cohort B will have school Week 1 - Tuesday and Thursday, Week 2- Monday and Thursday and Week 3 on Thursday
Cohort C - will have school Week 1 - Friday, Week 2 -Tuesday and Friday and Week 3 - Monday and Friday
They have to wear masks all day, everyday, if someone forgets, they will provide them. Temperature checks at the door. They will eat breakfast and lunch in the classrooms. Each grade will be housed on a designated floor. Seventh grade on the first floor, Eighth grade on the second and sixth grade on the third floor.
The principal said he is looking into tents to try to have lunch and certain classes outside as well

Yes - your plan sounds confusing too!
It is baffling to me that some districts are sending everyone back, some aren't, and every single hybrid plan is different. We have 8 districts in our county, all hybrid, and no two are even close to the same.

Re: Reopening Plans - Updated
we literally just moved this week
New district is full time for elementary. Not sure of secondary since does not apply to me
Old district is 2 days per week and 3 days remote k-6, 7-12 is a combo. They go 2 consecutive days in person then 4 consecutive remote.
We opted to put our kids in catholic school. They are kindergarten and 2nd grade

K-5 goes 5 days a week as normal. Middle school and high school are hybrid scheduling.
Masks all day, except for mask breaks. Temperature recorded on an app provided at home each day.

How does the app work? Do you just enter their tempature? I don't even think I have a working thermometer in this house. It's been years since anyone was sick. I probably have an infant one somewhere!

Re: Reopening Plans - Updated
I only paid attention to K-5.
Which is an option of fully remote or hybrid: 2-3 days a week in person on an AAA/BBB schedule based on last name. The other 2-3 days remote.
Locked in until November and then probably locked in again for the long term?
Masks "when distancing is an issue". (Not at desks they claim, I still think it will be enforced by the teachers. We shall see.)
In person students need to fill out a daily health form.

Its an app to record your kids temperature each morning that is sent to the school. If you don't do it then they will have to take it at school and get a call from the principal to start recording them before sending the child to school.

I feel like those forehead ones are so inaccurate through. Come to think of it I did have one when DD was like 2 or 3. It used to give a different temp everytime I swiped it. I used to try it on myself to test it and it would tell me I had a temp of like 96. And DD would range from 97 to 101 in a 5 minute span.
I also know a few parents that I can tell you right now will be faking those checks. They barely get their kids to school or homework done. No way will they be taking temps every morning. They are lucky if their kids are fed

Our district K & 1 M-F in person learning. They are going to socially distance the desks (6' apart), wear a mask and have a desk barrier. 2-6 will be split in 2 groups and do hybrid learning. 2 days in school 3 at home.
My neighboring district is having in person learning 5 days a week for all elementary children (K-5). There classrooms are not socially distancing desks, just doing mask and barriers.

Yes - mine did. We were supposed to start on 9/3 and are now starting on 9/8 fully remote. Our hybrid model starts on 9/14.
