ACA: Have you gotten your updated health plans from work yet?
Just curious..
A few of my friends on FB who live in NY are none too pleased. One lost his insurance with Aetna and the next cheapest offer was nearly triple the premium with double the deductible.
And folks in Texas are now getting their plans from their employers and they are doubling up in premiums at the very least if not more.
I don't get mine till next week and I'm honestly starting to dread it.
Its a new company I work for so I have no idea what to expect. Since I work for a company now whose original base was accounting then heavy on Employee Benefits and LASTLY my type of insurance (commerical broker) the emails we get corporate wide have been vague and at the same time cautionary. It is in their business to advise clients regarding employee benefit costs (health care, vision , dental etc) so its a strange angle for me to see this from. I'm still a little confused on the most important question "How will this affect ME?"

The insurance carrier is not going to be offering the plan I currently have next year. I have been asking my boss about the new insurance plan options since October 1st. She said the broker hasn't got back to her about pricing but has the book with the different plans in it. I will be asking again on November 1st! I am hoping the plans are more affordable because I will have to either add DH to mine or go into the healthcare exchange to get him a plan.

We changed carriers from one widely accepted carrier to another widely accepted carrier. The cost difference for me is nothing or pennies depending how many people you're covering. The copays for certain things changed. Overall cant complain.

From what I hear, it's just a slight increase in the premium - about $100. About the same as usual.

I get insurance through my husband and nothing is changing. From what I hear we are exempt from all this - thank God.

Im hoping for this.. but I dont know. My old company 'self insured' so they really paid for all of it then passed down a small portion to us. Not sure how this one works here.
but the stuff im seeing online from fb folks is pretty crazy. I am telling myself to just hold tight and be grateful I got a new job. It would have been worse had I seen an increase on my OLD pay at least I have something to off set it with.. (positive thinking.... positive thinking....)

This is what Im hearing on our corporate emails. They just dont know yet. It may not seriously affect you now as they can lock in rates etc, but that when 3/31/14 comes around things may or may not affect your 2015 term.
So far they keep telling us to tell our clients that:
"these issues are moving targets. Just as soon as there is official guidance, we will provide it to you."
which to me is vague and utterly unhelpful. But just so you know.. if your folks say they don't know, they really may not. But its not necessarily the broker's fault either.

No change so far, but my insurance is through DH's job and the company is primarily in Wisconsin.

We got ours last week. Almost the same except I pay $10 per pay period more for a family plan which is fine cause my per month cost is still less than DH would pay per pay period for just himself.

We are all on my plan. I got communication yesterday from HR saying that if you cover your spouse (I do) and he has a job that offers health insurance (he does) if he elects not to take it and continue coverage on my plan (he was) we get charged an additional $100.00 per month surcharge.

Same except we are on my DH's plan. I received an email from my company saying the same. DH's open enrollment is in April so we will see what happens then.

Re: ACA: Have you gotten your updated health plans from work yet?
My employer is no longer offering the plan I was on. We now have two high-deductible plans to choose from, with significantly lower premiums, although much higher deductibles as well. I would have preferred to keep my old plan. We are trying to decide what plans to choose and if we all want to move onto one plan (previously DS and I were on my insurance, DH on his own through his job).

This is what I don't understand.
1. How can they DO that? I know they can, it just seems unconscionable.
2. How do they know? Do they call up your husbands place of business and ask about his coverage? What HR person would answer such a question?

Same plan/coverage and very minimal increase in cost (less than $50/year).
Everyone is very pleased.

Re: ACA: Have you gotten your updated health plans from work yet?
Our options changed for 2014. right now, we have $20 copay, no deductible, and we are covered 90%
the options for next year all have deductibles of $2-3,000 and our rx is subject to deductible and we are responsible for 20% after deductible has been met.
there is another plan where you pay more per month, with a smaller deductible but you pay a copay for the rx and you are responsible for 30% after deductible.
thankful that my company will kick in some funds for my HSA.

Re: ACA: Have you gotten your updated health plans from work yet?
PPO plan is gone now, we only have HSA. Deductibles and copays are much higher now. This is an enormous company , but they need to save $ I suppose
For this year I think many people won't be affected. Next year will be another story for2015 benefits.

To keep the exact same coverage as 2013, my premiums increased about 7%, which is a lot. So that whopping 3% raise I got really means nothing.

I answered "other" because my health plan oddly runs from June-June.

Re: ACA: Have you gotten your updated health plans from work yet?
I'm sick about how much my health plan costs went up for next year due to the plan having to make adjustments to comply with the ACA requirements. Besides the premium increasing, the deductible skyrocketed, as did the annual maximum. I'll keep it since it is still much cheaper than the health care exchanges would cost for my family - which makes no sense to me, but it is what it is.
I'm sick of hearing all of the ACA lovers tell me how it's not the ACA's fault but it's because of insurance companies not wanting to shoulder the costs. I'm sick of hearing people say how they would never care about paying so much more for their health care so that other people can get it for free.
The White House ADMITTED that they LIED about people being able to keep their existing plans! Doesn't anybody see anything wrong with that?
OK sorry vent over.

I sad the same. The email says anyone who falsifies info will be subject to disciplinary actions.
