Reopening Plans - Updated
Home District K - every other day, fixed days with rotating Fridays 1-5 - Every day, small pods of 9-10 students who rotate between the teacher and TA. Special teachers will live stream into classes with the exception of gym. 6-12 - Hybrid model - do not know the details
30% of district has taken the 100% virtual model. They are establishing a virtual school led by a separate principal.
Masks only required when not able to maintain 6 feet distance. I am fighting this to have them required at all times.
Work District K-3 - every day 4-12 - Hybrid AA/off/BB There are no separate admins or teachers for virtual students. Virtual students will live stream in, BUT we do not know if that literally means they need to be on the computer for the entire day? I have no idea how I am suppose to be monitoring kids in school and on line simultaneously. Logistically it seems like a mess from a teacher standpoint.
Masks always required.

Re: Reopening Plans - Updated
My sons school was pushed back a week, he starts on the 14th. Originally I thought it was two weeks but realized Labor Day falls in the second week of September and he usually starts the day after that.
- The plan is mask required with the exception of lunch, gym and recess. Extra masks should be provided by parents.
-one week in school, 5 full days
-one week full remote. Flexibility for students who are remote to complete their work if they can’t make the class.
Parents have the option to go full remote and commit till the end of the calendar year. They can’t change back to hybrid.
His karate school is offering 3 1/2 hours in the morning or afternoon to drop your kids off. They have certified teachers who will work with your kids on their assigned district work. Also 30min of training to burn off energy. I am most likely going to do that for the weeks he is remote. It’s two groups of 9 kids max.
Eta: his one week remote was the stressor or my life for the past few months. When I got the email from his martial arts school, I cried from relief.

My 6 year old son's comment about the district's reopening forum: They seem to have no plan and no answers. Yup, pretty much.

Can he run for president or governor? You have a real smart and perceptive boy!

My niece's district upstate was supposed to be 5 days for elementary. Last week they switched it to fill remote through Columbus day and then hybrid after that. With the fact that so many people have relaxed their social distancing, it isn't a bad idea to start remotely so everyone is hopefully staying home for a few weeks before packing into schools. The next few months are really going to be sure opening.
