My father retired at 52 and my mom at 56. I think they over estimated their finances considering they don't plan to work anymore but things seem tight. I don't think I would completely retire. I think I would work part-time until I couldn't work anymore. Money scares me.

DH can retire from his job at 53 (in 13 years), I will be 56, we are out of NY. Neither of us will be able to sit home and do "nothing" we have some side things planned but his pension, 401K, savings, etc. we should be ok. We are not depending on SS.

I would llike to retire around 65, but I am diabetic and not sure how I will be physically. I am in great health now (knock on wood) but who knows in 30 years from now.
