Reusing bottles from older baby

I was going through all my stuff from Marron getting it ready for this baby, and I have a Target bag full of old Dr. Brown's bottles. I want so badly to use them again. It would really hurt to throw them all away. I've gone several times to the store to buy new ones and it just kills me to spend $15 for 2 bottles again. Not to mention that the new BPA-free ones are ugly -- they just look cloudy and cheap to me.

So my question is -- is anybody planning to use (or currently using) their older bottles for their new baby? Part of me says, "I used them for DD and she is just fine. I never boil the liquid in there so the risk of contamination is not there." But then the other side of my brain says, "You made the best choices you could at that time. We have new information now that those bottles MAY be an issue and so why risk it again?"

I really wish I could get myself together on this!! What do you think? What are you doing?

Re: Reusing bottles from older baby

The only reason I didn't use them for baby #2 was because of the whole BPA thing. I also didn't get Dr. Brown bottles like I used to have, I got the Born Free instead. Less pieces to clean and just as effective.

Re: Reusing bottles from older baby

Unless the bottles are glass I would get rid of them. I got rid of DSs bottles. They plastic breaks down after 3-4 months of continued use. My father has an industrial plastics company. It does not sell baby bottles, but it is "known" in the industry that there is only a certain tolerance for reuse. This goes for the nipples as well. I just would not chance it.
