Rolling onto stomach when sleeping? Quick Question...
Jack is 4 months old and just yesterday started rolling onto his stomach on his own. He just had a bottle and I put him back down to sleep. He rolled onto his stomach after a few minutes and is sleeping. Is it ok to leave him on his stomach?
TIA

Re: Rolling onto stomach when sleeping? Quick Question...
It's really up to you and your own comfort level. With my first I rolled him back for a month or two, I was so paranoid. With my second I was a little bit better, but still didn't love the idea and would check on him all the time!

Re: Rolling onto stomach when sleeping? Quick Question...
Once they start rolling, there really isn't much to do. You can roll him back, but it is going to make for a lot of sleepless nights. You could try a sleep positioner, but DS got stuck in his a couple of times and got mighty pi$$ed....I would only turn him over if he started to cry when he had enough of being on his stomach. He learned to roll back after a week or so....Good luck...

Re: Rolling onto stomach when sleeping? Quick Question...
I have heard that once they are able to roll onto their belly it is ok to let them sleep like that b/c they should have the head/neck and trunk control to pic their head up from the mattress if they need to.

Re: Rolling onto stomach when sleeping? Quick Question...
My doctor said in order to prevent a baby from rolling on their stomach you can either: A. Stay up all night watching them breathe and turn them over periodically. B. Staple the baby to the mattress on their back. C. Let them sleep.
We chose C. He is very funny. It was his way of saying that when they are ready they are ready. DD started rolling over at 2 months and I FREAKED! But now she is almost 6 months and a belly sleeper and she is so happy and sleeps very well
